Hey everyone,

I happen to know Boshko personally. He hog-tied me and forced me to join this group, and as such, I'm going to be mean to him .

For instance, my current sig file.

In any case, I'm a student at the same university Boshko attends. In fact, I'm stuck in the same house as the guy. So, yeah, I deal with him a lot. I don't have any work due until Wednesday, and I can't go out because I have a toothache, so I decided I'd make Dave happy and check out the group.

Is there anybody here from soc.history.what-if? That's the only other forum I really frequent.

Well, this is a rather bad introductory message because, well, I'm not quite sure what you guys want to know! Therefore, I'm going to leave it here and let you guys IM or respond to me and become part of this form that way.

...hadn't he said he was stuck with you, I'd have thought of a DL. However, he isn't controversial enough to be a DL, so no dance for me

(well, I'm trying to import a friend here, and I know he'll be welcomed by DL dances)

You should post a bit in the other forums of the site, if you play any Civ-related game, or if you had played them. Should you post only 30 posts in other forums, you won't get continuous DL dances everytime you post

Well, I only ever played CIV 1, and I _still_ play Colonization. Other than that I play paradox games now, I was told this was the only good forum.

Yes Stefu, I post to SHWI. And no, I am not Bassior, Kolker or Giwer. Giwer does often turn my threads into crap though.

Yes, I'm one of the regular posters, I'm the one who takes long hiatuses (though I've been solid since September, no long breaks).

And I will NOT change my nick. If you lurk Stefu, you should know who I am based on my nick. It's actually my name.

You should tell me what you think of my TLs and posts to SHWI, Stefu. Unless it's bad stuff, in which case you should private message me (but still tell me)

Then, you should try to post in this forum, at least to get 30 posts, which will help you getting rid of the dreaded "Settler" status (most people in the Off-Topic (OT) forum don't bother to look further than that to dub you a DL)

This forum is great, but has a strong community-culture. We welcome newcomers without problems, but newcomers have to accept this culture. The DL dance is one of these cultural features.

Go, post, argue, and enter the OT with wild abandon. That's how you'll have a name here

OK, I was pretty sure you were who you were, but couldn't hurt to check, eh?

Now don't take this the wrong way, but I simply can't remember any of your TLs. Any pointers? I'm mostly into American politics (a strange attraction, considering I'm not even an American) and American history in general - I love stuff like Bronze Age New World and For All Nails, and For All Time before it started to go all silly. Doug Muir and Doug Hoff are particularily favorite posters. From what I've seen from your general posting, you seem rather insightful.

I meant : go post in this other subforum of Apolyton for your posts to be counted. Once your postcount reaches 30, your "settler" status disappears, and becomes "chieftain" (which will deter all DL-dancers). Posting in this here subforum of Apolyton (the OT) doesn't increase your postcount at all, so you'll be stuck to "Settler" for all eternity if you don't post elsewhere.

Funny, I'm an American, but I'm really not a fan of US stuff. For TLs, I'm probably best known for my Submission stuff (which is kinda annoying, as that's kind of piggybacking on other people). Last semester I did a TL on Bismarck and one on Hungary during WW2. I'm also the one who started the Be Nice To SHWIers thing because I'm sick and tired of all the bickering
