That's fine - nothing wrong with changing your opinion about someone or something. But when you go from one absolute extreme to the other, at least one of your positions has to be grossly mis- or uninformed.

Unless you radically change your tactics and take some time to really think things through before you type, you're going to be toast in university - especially if you really are going to major in IR like you say you will.

Kontiki, I didn't go from one extreme to the other. I just abandoned any opinion on Argentinean politics. I am what you will call "non engage" in the situation here. I have no idea what can save this country. If given time, maybe I can form something.

Fez, just about everyone would agree that going from saying "Menem (or anyone or anything) is a great statesman and a great leader" to "Menem (or anyone or anything) is a crook" and "I hate Menem (yada yada)" is going from one extreme to another.

As for insulting you, I did no such thing. Again, the fact that you think I did shows why my point is valid. You cannot make baseless assertions and completely radicalize things when you write papers in university in general, and certainly not in IR. You need to be able to thoroughly support your positions, which means that your going to need to be well-informed on pertinent issues before you take a side. If you don't, you will be toast.

Misquote means to not quote properly. If someone said:

"I love most people."

and you quoted them as saying:

"I love everyone".

Then it is a misquote.

However, if your quote IDENTICALLY, LETTER FOR LETTER matches what the person said, then it is not a misquote.

I think it says a great deal that as soon there was a small hiccup in the normal order of things, the UN crowd shed its veneer of civilization and fell into lawlessness. Really demonstrates the caliber of person working there.

That's great. You basically said "we gang up on people who are misguided in their views".

I think that mentioning Fez's sexual leaning together with his alleged political leaning and alleged nationality was meant as slanger and insult, and not as something truelly relevant to the discussion.

While Fez does tends to be extreme and often inconcistent, that's no reason to attack him on the basis of his sexuality or beliefs. He's an easy target for some, and it's annoying.

Besides, even if we assume that for the sake of the arguement, Fez bieng a supposed "fascist homosexual spaniard argentinian" is relevant, Fez is a known figure in the forums, and by reiterating all sorts of name callings, you bring no new information in the light of which other posters can view Fez. Thus calling him a "fascist homosexual spaniard argentinian" serves no purpose but trying to insult him. Which is cheap.
