	Serious Semi Idol Question Support Apolyton, buy Civilization 2

Alot of us do watch American Idol and the one thing I have noticed it the age of the contestants. Is this to say that only twenty somethings can have a voice and can saaaaang? This is really something that I've been struggling with for the past few weeks because well......bottom line.........I can saaaaaaaaaaaaang. I was on voice scholarship in college and have won several singing contest here in town. I'm at a crossroads right now in my life right now and have some decisions to make. I've had several people tell me that I should do something with my voice. I had actually at one time thought about auditioning for Idol until I found out what the age requirements were.

So if you saw a regular person who could sing their a$$ off but was a bit older then 23 would you like them or would their age play a factor in it? I also decided I'm not going to put myself out there right now at a vaunrable time in my life if people don't think I'm good enough so if I was to make the demo with two songs like required for star search.... and placed an audio link on here would you be willing to give it honest critique? Not slam spam thank you mam'. After raising my kids and getting my life back so to speak I want to know if I have it or if I can do it. I don't want to be 80 years old going.....woulda coulda shoulda.

I've got another chance possibly to make a dream for me come true.......so are you willing to critique honestly. Granted it probably won't be everyone's type of music but I just want to know if the voice is good.

Well, this year the contest changed because the top contestents are the best SINGERS.

So maybe next season they will not be strict on the age. Hey, it's possible.

it's been keeping me up. Steve calls me a canary. But I've just spent the last 5 hours singing and trying different songs and trying to find my style. I have perfect pitch can't read a note of music and have played by ear all my life. I also can immitate singers really well. I do a really mean Cher......just to bad I'm not that skinny.

I have one of those Whitney Houston, Celin dion, Judy Garland, Martina McBride voice. I can be very soft but boy when I have to belt it I can. This is just a safe place for me I guess to put it out there first and see what type of response I get. Ok.....then. I guess I need to get to the studio soon.

Don't need drugs thank you. So far I'm down 23 pounds and getting there but I have come to accept myself skinny or not. Being myself is what's important not whether or not I fit society's perception. Besides I don't want to be that skinny..........I just want to sing.

I know. I didn't take it bad.....checked behind you yet So I've started. I sang for 3 hours last night and I'm on my 3rd for tonight. Steve thought it was a great idea, of course he should or he will get acquainted with my frying pan. I got the form for Star Search and have to go have head shots made. Still seems a bit silly to me.

Isn't there a proverb going something like that? What I meant was that the star of an opera is often a fat lady that doesn't sing until the end of the show and then get the most applause.

Maybe I should kiss you off! Nope, the dream stays. At least I'm willing to muster up enough courage and stick my neck out rather then in then sit on my pourch wondering what possibly could have happened when I'm 80 which isn't that far off And even though I might be old...... age wise I don't look my age I look alot younger.

I wouldn't put too much stock in anything American Idol does. The whole purpose of the show (besides ratings and the most blatant commercial promos the world has ever seen) is to find the next teen idol. If you want to have a go at a music career, go nuts. The reality is that you're not going to be the next Britney or NSYNC if you aren't young and attractive - but that doesn't mean you can't be successful.

Exactly. American Idol just gave me the idea again and the where withall to want to make something of my dream.

Yeah well there is a difference. I can. If I couldn't I would not have won district, region and state nor would I have gotten not one but two full voice scholarships to college, nor would I have won several contest around town, nor would my company have asked me to sing the National Athem at our awards banquet. I don't remember if Femme was there or not at the christmas party for our old job but if she was she would have heard me. **bends down to pull up her depends** Now where was I

I have no illusions about booping out there trying to be a britney wanna be. I just want to take the shot and see if I still have it. If I don't at least I try, then I won't have to regret never trying. Sometimes not trying is worse then trying. To quote Whitney........."if I fail, if I succeed at least I lived as I belived. No matter what they take from me they can't take away my dignity."

At least I will have tried to make my dream come true. Can we all say that we acted on every opportunity or dream or did we just say......well they really aren't attainable so why bother. I want to say I tried.
