	Civgroups icon for the Deity C3DG? Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

It's just a decorative thing, but do we want to design ourselves a civgroups icon? Something that has to do with our civ choice perhaps, or with the difficulty level?

Okay, I've made some lame attempts to start up the discussion.
This, by no means, should be considered as a sketch for a final. First, there's not enough content, just an axe with all kinds of effects. We'd probably want to add another object to this icon (a sickle, perhaps? ).
Anyway, I started with this axe icon from Diablo I.

Obviously we're gonna have to get rid of all the special effects and go for simple geometry, like the ISDG Apolyton Team civgroup icon or the icons for the PTWDG teams.

Shiber .... keep the lightning, change the background to a blood red, and change the axe to a solid black with white/gray/silver highlight. I bet you it will look good in the reduced size. Clear enough to tell what it is anyways.

Well at least I am fed up with it. I like the axe with the lightning and fire most of all. Can you post a 16x16 image of that one? I found the previous images hard to recognise in 16x16 mode.

Thanks, I actually thought that they weren't any good.
Anyway, the fiery axe is just as hard to recognize in 16x16 as my previous attempts.

I figured that it's not my fault, it's the axe's fault.
The original axe, or even an axe with a solid color, is impossible to recognize in such small dimensions.
Oh, btw, I was mistaken - civgroup icons should be 15x19.
I'll keep looking for axe icons. Maybe I can find one that's vertical.

Edit: here's another idea - since we're the Vikings, and this is an archi. game with 80% water, do we want to incorporate an anchor into our civgroup icon?

Btw, the lightning effect doesn't work well with any of these, the axe is too bright to be distinctively different from the background.

I think the blood-red axes with the red works well.

I also wonder: Can the icons be animated? That might be interesting...
