How many turns are in a game? Support Apolyton, buy Civilization 2

Simple question, but one I've never bothered to answer.

How many turns are in a game from 4000BC to 2050AD?

In Civ2, it varied depending on the difficulty level. In Civ3, it doesn't. But, I still don't know the answer to my question.

Does anyone know the breakdown? You know, xx turns at 50 years, yy turns at 25, etc.

A little help?

- TT

Suffering from ads?

First 25 turns = 50 years (4000 BC)
Next 25 turns = 40 years (2750 BC)
Next 40 turns = 25 years (1750 BC)
Next 50 turns = 20 years (750 BC)
Next 100 turns = 10 years (250 AD)
Next 100 turns = 5 years (1250 AD)
Next 100 turns = 2 years (1750 AD)
All turns yearly after that (1950 AD)

So, adding it all would be 540 turns

P.S. I liked the Civ2 breakdown better and in fact use it in my personal mod which I occasionaly play with

Thanks Got spare money?

So the year stuff is hidden in the Scenario Properties. I went looking in the Rules Editor, but couldn't find anyway to edit the years. Thanks Master Zen and Bobbo for sending me back to the editor.

I guess this means that the year 0 really does exist in the Civ3 world (10BC + 20 years = 10AD).

Has anyone tried changing "50 turns at 20 years" to "100 turns at 10 years"? Does that produce year 0 BC (or 0 AD)? Or what?

If I remember correctly, Civ2 had a different number of turns depending on the level you played at. But, all difficulty levels had both years 1 BC and then 1 AD. Does anyone else remember it that way?

Just wasting time thinking about civ. Thanks for listening.

Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

No problem TT,

Civ2 had the same years per turn breakup no matter what difficulty level. The only diffference was the turns. Civ2 was like this:

First 50 = 50 years (4000 BC)
Next 50 = 25 years (1500 BC)
Next 50 = 25 years (250 BC
Next 50 = 10 years (1000)
Next 50 = 5 years (1500)
Next 50 = 2 years (1750)
Next 50 = 1 years (1850+)

I honestly don't remember what was the turn difference. So, yes, all levels had the 1 year (1 AD, I never recall seeing a 1 BC)

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

I think that in the lower levels (or higher levels, forget which) you played until 2050, and at the other end you played until 2000.
