Having now played a turn in a succession game would anyone want to play a 2.42 game with a zero city overlap? I know these games are about lots of leaders with different ideas, but I just don't like ICS at all. Would anyone to play a slightly more prescribed succession game?

I'd be willing to play with no city overlap.
Watch us get stuck on a small island with barely enough room for 2 cities.

I play 2.42. Why not start one of each?

I always play trying to maximize a city to its fullest.
Count me in.

Cool,
Gits- I don’t think offering advice or ideas is mucleing in! How many games do you think you can cover on your website before you have to quit your job?
Everyone- I would suggest no overlap should mean exactly that (unless it’s a desert tile or something I suppose). Someone should induct Dave V into the hall of fame for our new fad, I see Pokemon shares have trembled in the wake of this. I too play 2.42 so I’d prefer that to MGE, the multiplayer by email though it would be cool, I can’t find MGE anywhere. I could kick off a game tonight I suppose on 2.42 at Emperor level with Hordes of barbarians unless there is a strong vote for other settings before then.
The order will be
Johnmcd 10 turns
ScouseGits 10 turns
HsFB 10 turns
Huey 10 turns
Muad’Dib 10 turns
Anyone else that thinks they are up to it. Kcbob is sadly not able to play as he is MGE.

One vote for Diety.
Actually, I was thinking, it was MWHC rather than Dave V that came up with this nonsense wasn't it?
Gits, do you want two shots to reflect your plurality?

You didn't get left off the list, I was interupted by my boss when I was writing it. If people had only listend when I was petioning for www.advancedaccountancy.com this sort of heart break could have been avoided.
I made a list on paper and then typed it in, my apologies.

First save away!
Diety, Large map, Hordes and seven other civs. Its a promising looking start, two specials and a 25g hut. All grassland and forrest so ideal for a perfectionist approach.

I just got a new save from the Scouse Gits. At this point I will have to play it tomorrow. Sorry about the delay but I am tired and playing would not be fair to our posterity.

Dateline: November 2000 - Edinburgh
The following has been translated from hieroglyph tablets dating back to circa 2500BC. The tablets were found by a widow while she was harvesting her radishes in a suburb of the Edinburgh metropolis. When asked about the sudden commotion in her victory garden she said, "I hope they finish soon. I need to finish my pulling. The frost is coming and I sure love those raddish and butter sandwiches. Would you like one sonny? I've got kohlrabi in there too."
The tablets follow:
In the time of the Scouse Gits there came to be a family rich in the trade of silk. The Skrobi [note: this is the plural of Skrobis] rose to rule our tribe of 20,000 for 500 years, as was the will of the gods.
Our Archers and Settlers move throughout the country side. So it came to pass that warriors were trained at Edward I. Archers and Warriors moved to the East and discover two huts. Praise to the Silk Worm [note: the silk worm played a central role in the myths and religion of this tribe.] that weaves the ways of the world. It is right that there are other peoples and they shall be left undisturbed.
Where the sun rises it is found that the gods weave us a small lake with fish. One day we will fish these waters.
Edinburgh builds roads and increase the trade of silk. We are mighty. Soon the villages will number three. The Great Silk Worm is praised.
Thin silk is spun these days. [note: this seems to be a bad omen] Our tribe grows boastful and looks to expand before the gods will it. Edinburgh will be erased from the fabric of time if our tribe looks to settle more. Our gold is lost. We have squandered the fruits of the Silk Worm. Our children will curse our names. Oh gods, see our repentance. Spare us your wrath. You are mighty indeed.
The Silk Worm be Praised! The gods are pleased indeed. The secret of working bronze is woven into the dreams and thoughts of the wise. Wise men begin to study the ways of Ceremonial Burial. When this is done our people will be forever woven into minds of the gods.
500 years have passed. Our archers move to the river banks - they are fleet as fish. Our warriors continue to witness the darkness pulled back as the Silk Worm weaves our world. Edinburgh sets to build more roads.
[note: this seems to be to end of the rule of the Skrobi. Archeologists continue to dig for more tablets but all that we find are tubers.]
