	Help, I can't get rid of Spybots! Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

After following a link to an internet quizie I found that my copy of IE has picked up a couple of parasites. I downloaded Spybot 1.2 and it got rid of most of them but I still have four parasites which Spybot can't seem to remove from my machine. Can anyone recomend another program to remove these die-hard parasites?

AdAware v6.0 was released (after several months of non-communicado from the developers). I use both SpyBot S&D and AdAware to get pretty much everything the other misses. There might still be a thing or two that BOTH miss, but less likely than using only one program.

There are passive spybots and then there are the ones that pop-up a bunch of crap ads. I had a half dozen different ones which I suspect all got installed when I stupidly downloaded a plug in from the Gator Corp.

I'll never trust those clowns again.

well this is weird. After viewing this thread I just had a whole bunch of pop ups come up.

I also had a cnn.com window open. Perhaps CNN is getting desperate and doing a whole bunch of pop-up.

What are the odds I get a spy-bot after reading this thread?

ixnay recommended "Spybot Search and Destroy" a few months ago, and it worked wonders on my computer...got rid of Gator, Xupiter, and more! I ixnay

I should have used that for Xupiter. I was a moron to accidently download that. It came up when I was trying to get a chat room to work, I thought it was something I had to download to get the chatroom to work

I got rid of Xupiter the hard way. Full hard drive reformat.

Arghhh! They're back! I'm still getting those stupid pop up ads, I run both Spybot & Ad-ware, they both say I have several parasites, they both say the computer is now clean, I reboot, and the Parasites are back again!!!


What the heck can I do to get rid of this thing? I don't want it reporting to some marketer about the websites I visit and I don't want it force feeding me ads. These bastards are worse then Spammers.

msconfig (start->run->msconfig)

That will at least let you know what your computer is loading every time it starts. Also check your start->programs->startup for links you don't want. It may well be reinstalling automatically from there.

The startup folder had something called "download plus" in it which I promptly deleted (and emptied from the trash can).

I'll see if that helps at all.

But the stuff is still somewhere on your machine, hiding in the deep recesses of your hard drive... You better do a Google search on how to totally get rid of it.

and get at least the free zonealarm at www.zonelabs.com ( the pro works better )

and finjan surfinguard , www.finjan.com to keep them out and to stop them from sending something , .....

just type in spyware+removal at yahoo or so , .....

the above ones are the easy to understand ones , there are some program's out on the net , but they are only for people with an IQ of 2500 or so , .....

actually try a combination of several programs after one and another , spybot and adware , .....
