Hi all,
hope to find some help here.
I bought Civ3 two years ago when it was released. I was an happy player, even I don't play it very often, until a month ago, when the CD broke. It broke in my hands in a strange way, with fissures from the center.
I strongly believe that the media was defective since I handled other CDs like Civ2 and SMAC for longer time without any problem.
For that reason I looked for a replacement, but Infogrames doesn't offer replacement when warranty is expired. I think that it is unfair. We are not able to make backup copies because the CD is copy protected to avoid illegal copies, then they should offer a replacement in case the media breaks. I shouldn't be forced to buy another copy of the game with another manual that I already have.
Is there anything I can do? I think that I am entitled to get a (non-paid) home-made copy of the game since I own the (broken) original media, but I am not completely sure it is legal. I live in the US. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
