Is everyone OK with the game being set at Chieftain? I think this just means cities can grow to size 4 or 5 before the people start to complain.

That would make sense, but the 1.14f patch still has a glitch that defaults to cheiftain. I was looking at the naval-game turn thread and appearantly science research is also sped up in chieftain. We might want to restart, although faster research won't hurt me any...

No, PBEM automatically reset the difficulty to Chieftain. There is a workaround to it, but it must be done during the game setup. Now it is too late (or we should restart).
So I think it was Regent in the beginning, and only later did it change to Chieftain, but only Daedalus could enlighten us in this matter.

Guys, let me know if you want to restart at a higher level. Tiberius, if you could direct me to this workaround, that'd be helpful. :
I think that since there's no AI, Chieftan shouldn't be too big an issue, but if it is, we can restart.

I don't mind to continue, either.

About the workaround: I'll try to find it (I'm not very sure where I saw it, but I know somebody who I can ask). However, hopefully they will fix it in the next oatch, so there won't be a problem anymore.

Btw, since we didn't encounter problems until now, it seems that everybody is on 1.14f We forgot to check it before we started the game.

I'd be in favor of a restart, if only for the slight chance this glitch is a sign of other hidden problems. I don't know much about it, though.

OK, I've asked a friend who set up a game for us some time ago, and here's what he did to avoid the "reset to chieftain" bug:

He installed a 1.01f version of PtW on a second computer (you can do it of course on the same computer, not necesarily a different one, but then you have to do it every time you start a game) and started (set up) the game on that computer. That's all. The rest of the turns you play with a normal 1.14f version (and the rest of the players, too).
So it is a one time use of a 1.01f install, for setting up the game.

Well, for this game let's stay on chieftain.
As for future games: either you ask someone else to set it up (someone with 1.01f) or you pray that the next patch will arrive shortly and will fix the problem
