Actually, at another board I post at (Dunno if it's the same type of forum), you can delete your own posts, but after deleting one of your own posts, when you return to the main forum page, for a few minutes it looks like the entire thread has disappeared... and then it reappears again later. Presumably if done with other peoples' posts in threads the same can happen.
