	Should Africans get affirmative action? Got spare money?

if affirmative action exists to redress past wrongs then Africans should not gain the benefits of it what with a recent Nigerian or Sudanese immigrant not having ancestors who were enslaved and oppressed by the US... if AA exists to remedy continuing racism, however, then Africans should get...

so what do yall think? Assuming affirmative action is justified (don't make this a thread about whether it's right or wrong because there's already a thread for that), should Africans get it?

No one should get Affirmative Action. You can't solve a problem caused by discrimination through discrimination.

AA should not be practiced in state schools. Private schools can do whatever they like: either AA or no AA.

like i said... there already is a thread about whether AA is right or wrong... this thread is only intended for if Africans should get it or not as they're ancestors were never enslaved or held down in any way

AA is the wrong solution for a real problem. Providing equal opprotunity is the only way to be fair. Unfortunately, there isn't equal opprotunity in America.

of course, it's hard as nails to try and sort out who's "deserving" of the african/black population and who's not, so...

I agree (for once) with sloww.

But although african immigrants ancesters were not slaves (with the exception of some people from liberia off course) many of them were enslaved tortured and the likes by US sponsored regimes.

So why not?

I'm no republican, but I certainly wouldn't lump all of them into the category of "garbage". There's plenty of garbage to go around in both the parties.
