Rise of Nations Retail Freezes Randomly Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

I just bought Rise of Nations retail yesterday, and it's a great game, however it causes my system to hang randomly when I play it (Everything stop moving and speakers emit a buzzing sound). This is very annoying as I can't really get anywhere in the conquer the world campaign when this is happening.

I have an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. Could this be causing any problems? Any suggestions would be welcome.

SPECS:
P4 2.4 GHZ
SiS 648 MAX Motherboard
512Mb Corsair RAM
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
Soundblaster Live! Gamer.

Tired of ads?

Make sure you have all programs closed in the background. Example, no virus protection running or anything else. Also, what operating system are you running? Do you have the lastest sound card drivers installed? Also do you have the latest video card drivers?

Well.. Inflate your Upload Space

I am running Windows XP. I did have McAfee Antivirus running in the background, however disabling it didn't help.

I am using latest ATI drivers, but I'll update my sound card ones as well. Hopefully it works...
