Really? I don't think we have quite got to that point here.

I think early competitions teach valuable lessons about winning and losing in life.........lets hope the situation you describe doesn't remove that benefit.

I think we've gone past the point. 10 teams at a pom pom competition. EVERY team ended up with ribbons. What possible lesson can that teach.
Even Mediocrety is rewarded.
Do lousy, still get recognized.
Why win, you get the same prize.

I just don't buy it.

I remember it from the only time I ever saw it...

My first game ever. A roman chariot wandered up to my only city VERY early in the game. It demanded money. I said no. It attacked, and the game ended.

My next game... I hunted the damn Romans down mercilessly

Never saw the video again after that.
