I wish Galciv could have more immersion in it Tired of ads?

I love Galciv, its a great game, but I just dont feel immersed. I really love the videos that are played when you do something, that atleast gives you some immersion, but they are too few and too far in between. All of the space is boring. Its basically a bunch of suns with a bunch of bonus anomalies laying around. I seriously would love some sort of barriers and terrain things.

There could be an expanse of distorted space, where physics are constantly changing. You may go faster or slower, attack or defense may go up or down, your ship might even be destroyed. There could be gas clouds you cant go through, creating a natural barrier. I mean, just take any space anomalie type thing you can think of from star trek, put it into GalCiv, and its become a far better game.

I think we need more immersion within our empire, and our ships doings. Frankly, the 2d ship fighting doesnt do it for me. I would think that there has to be someway to incorporate a small 3d fight into the game, to let us watch in detail what the ships do when they are fighting. The same goes for planet invasions. I basically press the spacebar, get a random number, and thats my invasion? I would like to atleast toy around a little bit with how the invasion goes, and see it play out somehow.

Well, those are my probably unrealistic gripes. GalCiv is a great game, but I feel it could be better.

It's space.

This wasn't a problem with Civ2, and I don't think its the problem here. Although I will agree with you that there is something a little "flat" about GalCiv. But I can't put my finger on it, you know?

Enter the AD-FREE zone

It's because the tiles are square, and oriented vertical/horizontal. Civ2 and Civ3 give an appearance of looking from an angle by making the tiles diamonds that are slightly shorter vertically and oriented diagonally.
