I've been doing research on it and the only thing I've managed to find in common between people with errors like me (low FPS, around 4 during battles and about 30 when staring at a few units just standing around doing nothing in a corner of a map on lowest settings possible) is this:
1. OS. ~80% of us use win2k pro.
2. DirectX. ~90% use DirectX 9.0a, but that can't be the issue because I tried it on DirectX 9.0 and it still sucked (although it SLIGHTLY IMPROVED FPS by about 4-5)
I have verified that point 2 is not the cause. Point 1 still may be, however it is unlikely to be, the problem. I tried running RoN on a lesser machine that used ME and another that used 98 but both machines lacked compatable GFX cards.
My current theory is it's a combination of OS incompatability with the GFX card we're using. I think it might be some weird issue with RoN not fully being comptabile with the win2k pro drivers they use for GeForce 4's. But the fault with that is some people are using Radeon's, and that it seems very unlikely.
