Uhm, this has to be the biggest non sequitor I've seen on these boards. Good argument, Sava! :clap hands:

I'd like to see some as well but it looks like a ringing condemnation of the Clinton Administration if true.

How many other conservatives are going to come in here and defend this horrible action by the Republicans? Sometimes it makes me wonder how much hope there is for us. Taxes are the greatest or your worries? I think it would be good for some of you to have to live like some of these working class families for awhile. Shame on you. Try to have some compasion and stop only thinking of yourselves.

It's quite valid. You are against giving tax credits to the poor. And also against letting the poor have abortions because they can't afford their kids. It must be nice on that high horse.

Oh, save us the histrionics and the hand wringing. Nothing y'all have said has convinced me that people who not only don't pay income tax but also recieve a tax credit for taxes that they didn't pay (AS I SO APTLY DEMONSTRATED) deserve more.

Look, if you want yet another Federal handout, lobby for one - but be honest about it and claim that is what you are doing.

You've already decided that they should work their hands to the bone and not get the same credit that wealthier people do so what's the point. Luckily, people like you are still a minority.

They'll never be able to play that card again. It almost makes me glad, because it's going to mean they will lose more elections. I don't think they will win another presidential election for a long time.

Which is why we've been in increasing control of the political body since 1980? Which is why our elected representatives passed this bill?

"Wealthier" people get the credit because they paid the goddamned taxes. What is so damned hard to understand about this?

And I know you're in favor of a flat tax, but you're the minority. Bush only got elected because of a conservative supreme court and because he LIED! He claimed to be a moderate. Only one more year of this crap.

Who says the tax cuts need to be across the board? A better tax cut would focus on giving the largest rebates to the poor and middle class while taxing the rich the same.

Well, let me ask you both (Sava, Kid). If you have a 3 person family (man, wife, child) making $36,000, do they deserve a tax cut? Will they get one?

The point is that if Bush wants to shift the tax burden on the poor he should just make them pay more taxes. That's something I don't support, but maybe I wouldn't have been so mad if others weren't getting a tax cut. It would atleast be better than cutting us out a of a tax credit that everyone else is getting. Again, a tax credit is not a tax refund. It is suppose to compensate people for doing something which benefits the economy. Raising kids costs money and the govt benefits, so why the hell do the poor not recieve the credit?

And the wealthier people should pay more taxes, because they get a greater benefit from the govt. Look at the deficits? Who do the deficits benefit besides those who got the tax cuts and credits? The wealthier people do who can buy the bonds and recieve the interest on it do. If anyone should have gotten benefits it should have been the poor, who can't afford to buy bonds. The poor should have gotten double credits.
