Sometimes I´ve got freezes in RON. I must reboot my PC. After watching serveral Forums it seems to me that RON has got probs with AMD Cpu´s. Am I right or wrong?

Two things to try before we go more in depth.
First, Make sure you have all your windows updates.
Second, try installing DirectX 9.0a

Did you run an NT or 9x OS?
@ jbestimt Direct X 9.0a and the latest Updates was already installed before RON.
Yesterday I installed the LargePageminimum Patch and played three matches without probs... Later I will be play some matches more.
I will post here today after played some matches more, if this patch solved my probs...

Should work with XP too.
This is not a MS bug, it´s an AMD CPU bug...

I said this to magni72, because he said that this patch will be still work only with 2000. But there are serveral people, that solved the Freez prob (not only RON) with the LPM Patch and WINXP.
The LargePage Bug is a litte myserious for AMD users
Sure you´re right, there could be a million things, the board, the power supply...
Win 2000 with SP2, SP3 is as good/bad for playing as WinXP...

But I see in the AMD WEB SITE that patch are for Windows 2000.
I ask you and at other guy if someone installed it with XP.

We are currently working on reproing the bug.
In the meantime, can you try the following (from a post by MCoupeAdam):

Don't forget to go into your Device Manager, view RESOURCES BY CONNECTION and check to see if any cards are sharing IRQs that could be causing problems. It's normal for some devices to share IRQs, as there aren't many, but some cards, such as video and sound cards should not be sharing IRQs.
On the same token, I had a Creative Labs SB Audigy digital sound card, along with a Creative Labs DigitalVCR card. They both ended up on IRQ 11. Couldn't play for 3-5 minutes before lockups. Disabled DigitalVCR card from Device Manager, can now play all night long (and I've tested that!)
Anyways, machine is Athlon 2400XP, 512Mb, ATI Radeon 9500 Pro 128mb 8x AGP, SB Audigy, ViaKT400 chipset w/ PC3200 RAM, Samsung 19" LCD
Of course you need to update all of your drivers, but if you've done that and are still experiencing lockups, check out the IRQ issues. It's fixed more than a few of my friend's machines.

no conflict for me but freeze ! If there is a conflit all game 3d freeze or crash i have pb only with RON !

it seems to me that only when I'm in the latter ages of the game... (industrial & beyond) My AMD 1800+ will crash during a big firefight with a nation of the same technology. could this be that the AMD processor can't keep up with all the calculation that are pretty much happening at the same time?

1 GHZ DDR (RAM)
Ge FORCE 2 MX 400 (vid card 64 mb ram)
20 ghz hd
all updated drivers and patches

In the beginning the game did run fine for me. Played it with much different civs and many different setts.
Then it began to freeze up after a couple of mins. I encountered the same probs as you guys here. Even as I have Win XP I tried the LargePageMinimum Patch. Result was that instead of freezing I now got a complete crash :-(.
Anyway, the weird thing is, I tried to change setts for quick battle and with some specific settings it NEVER freezes. With the following setts I never got freezes:
My Civ: Turks
Enemy: Chinese
Starting Age: Normal
End Age: Age of Enlightenment (Hope that's the english word)
Map: 2-3
All victory setts: Conquest
Computer difficulty: Medium
If I sett other End Age it freezes again..really weird.
It seems it isn't only a hardware related bug.
My Comp: Athlon XP 2700+, ASUS A7N8X Deluxe, 2x512 MB Corsair 3200 RAM, Radeon 9700PRO, Win XP Pro
