	new Consul - vondrack's replacement Increase Your PM Length

As announced three days ago, I am stepping down from the post of the Consul. Two members of our team are running for the now vacant post: BigFree and Fried-Psitalon.

Well if I become Consul I will first resign my position as Ambassador to CDG, it just would be right for me to be both.

I think vondrack was the best kind of Consul we could have hoped for. He listened to everyone and weighted each person’s opinion fairly. He intervened in a couple of instances where member’s got into heated debates in a manner that diffused the situation and brought reason back to the discussion.

I only hope to do half as well as vondrack has and I think that is a lot. But I do feel as though I'm up to the task and I'm not daunted by it one bit. I hope to work closely with nye and MrWIA, I seem to get along fairly well with both of these gentlemen.

I plan to be very available for duties. Anyone who's logged into the chat's can attest that I'm there more often than not. I like to bounce ideas around in the chat room with other's to see if we can come up with anything sound enough to bring to the forums. I hope to get more people involved in the chat room as well.

I would like to see more polls posted by people, not just Minister's. I want to hear the opinions of everyone so that I can have more information in which to make a better decision when the time comes for one. I want to draw up short, medium, and long term plans. The AltSp is great and I fully support it as it is now, I hope to see a poll for it soon. But in addition to those plans, I would like to draw up other plans that will lead us down that path. More detailed plans that showed what kind of improvements/units we want to build for the next 10 turns and what kind of things would we be looking for that would cause us to change those plans. These are the questions and answers I'd be seeking and would want input from our member's on how best to reach these goals. The medium term plan would cover what we do after 10 turns from now up to 40 turns with a little less detail than in the short term plan but with a little more than the long term plan (AltSp.) We'd make minor adjustments, if needed, to the Medium term plan every 10-20 turns. Once we get near the end of the AltSp we'd start working on another one for our future.

I would want all of these plans to be posted for editing, additions and/or deletions. That would be followed by a poll in which, as a team, we adopt a strategy plan that best fits out goals. Multiple plans could be put together and would run against each other in a poll.

I'm pretty open minded and can listen/talk to people pretty well. I feel I would make a great Consul because I would be representing the people's opinions along with mine and not just my own opinion.

The future is bright for Apolyton. I'm confident I can help our team become the most revered team in the ISDG and in the Civ community.

I might actually run "for real" later this summer, but right now, I am only running in case dozens of you harbor deep-down, evil hatred of the Hoplite-favoring Bigfree.

If anyone else had run against him, I would've bowed out altogether.

Why?
-For warmonger representation in the leadership
-To increase F-P's activity
-Losing BigFree from the FAM would be a bad thing
-BigFree's participation is already high and admirable

Regardless of who wins, I thank both worthy candidates for running.

As of this moment, I officially hand my Consular duties and priviledges over to BigFree.

I will leave it to others whether I shall retain the mod powers in this forum (because of planning to keep the normally locked turn report and InfoCentral threads up to date) and whether I shall remain on the list of those receiving the savegame from CGN (though not allowed to play turns under any circumstances).

Yes, you should retain Mod powers, if not for the reasons you mentioned, then for the reasons that everyone knows why you make a very good Mod.

I have no problems with you recieving the save.

I'm really disapointed by the low voter turnout though. I'm going to try and make this game as participation friendly as possible. I'm sure nye and MrWIA will agree that making this game fun should be one of the top priorities.

BF - welcome aboard, and since I have lotsa time ATM, if you had any suggestions that you thought could be carried out re the fun thing, let me know...

dejon - So Mr New SMC wants war warmonger thoughts amongst the Consuls, eh?

We'll get lotsa war thoughts before too long, by the looks of things.
