The Tale of the Years 1750 BC to 1300 BC Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

THE TALE OF THE YEARS 1750 – 1300 BC

1750 BC – Convert Enron Worker to Elvis to restore order. Convert Pax production to Phalanx. Rush Phalanx in Dominion. (19G). Convert Imperialis production to Warrior. Horse pops hut searching for secret of Ceremonial Burial. Finds a Horseman (homes to Majestica – not NONE)! Horses and Archers explore.

1700 BC – Rush Enron Warrior (19G). Imperialis Archer rehomed to Glorificus. Archer pops hut – Iron-Working. Imperialis Settler re-homed to Majestica. That fixes Imperialis disorder. Horses/Archers explore.

1650 BC – Order restored in Imperialis! Rush Warrior there to keep population quiet. Pax builds Phalanx and starts Settler. Horse pops hut seeking the elusive Ceremonial Burial secret – gets a None Settler and orders him to return to civilization while exploring unknown areas. Horses and Archers explore.

1600 BC – Horses, Archers, and Settler explore.

1550 BC – 2 Barb Horses appear south of Majestica and Dominion! Change Majestica to Chariot (wastes 2 shields). Convert Imperialis production to Phalanx. Horses, Archers, and Settler explore.

1500 BC – 1 Barb Horse nearing Imperialis. Chariot goes out to ambush Barb Horse. Horses, Archers, and Settler explore.

1450 BC – Romans start Pyramids! Archer returns to Dominion as other Barb Horse heads that way. Dominion Elvis sent to work Ivory (1-1-4). NW Horse nearest Kyoto. Horses, Archers, and Settler explore.

1400 BC – Chariot ambushes Barb Horse and gains Vet status! Remaining Barb Horse moves toward Dominion (we have an Archer and a Phalanx there, poor fool). Rush Warrior in Majestica to keep peace while Chariot is away. Horses, Archers, and Settler explore.

1350 BC – We meet Greeks! Accept Peace and offer to trade knowledge. They ask for Iron-Working and offer Ceremonial Burial. I ask them if they will accept Warrior Code, but no deal. I accept initial offer. All they have to give is Ceremonial Burial so we get that. Should be able to research Monarchy next turn! Horses, Archers, and Settler explore.

1300 BC – We are cursed! Monarchy not offered to research. Currency, Mathematics, Mysticism, Polytheism, or Writing. Per polls, I choose Polytheism. Glorificus Explorer moves out and meets Jap Warrior. I accept peace from them too and ask to trade knowledge. They want Map-Making in exchange for Writing. I accept, hoping they also have Monarchy or Polytheism. Writing is all they have. Horse reaches North Pole and is nearest Boston. Majestica Horse in NW is also nearest Boston. This is confusing!

Stopping in mid-turn. We have several units near huts. Do we want to pop them? I don’t want to move away from the huts in case we do.

That's all I can think to show. We're having the Devil's own time of it trying to get to Monarchy. I decided to stop popping huts, lest the research-turn numbers just get larger. But we have several units near huts, and we *could* decide to go all ziggy on them and see if we get lucky.

I look forward to some interesting polls from the Ministers and lots of spirited discussion on this. One thing I noticed is that we have the highest govt approval rating, so probably no civ has Monarchy.

It's is also interesting to note that some of the results of moves I was least happy with at the time (popping Iron-Working and building an Explorer in Glorificus) turned out to be very valuable later.

And this is one weird map... !

Sending the game file to the Ministers now... I hope you will all be able to study the game file and post some good polls soon.. We want to get this game moving along. As my father always says about keeping a golf game moving, "Make haste, slowly". In other words, think well, but don't waste any time.

(edited to say the file has been sent - If any Minister doesn't receive it soon, let me know)

By "flogged" I assume it involves silken cords and Amazons?

And while you are in "happiness mode" do you recall just who it was that assured me that popping that first hut would result in a "None" Unit (that got homed to Majestica)? Hmmm? (Actually, it surprised me too)

Horse is exploring in the North/East and next to a hut (nearer to Majestica) I suggest it pop the hut and then continue exploring. *popping hut will not cause support problems if a unit comes out.

sounds to me that Hydey was saying it would not cause support problems for Dominion because it would be supported by Majestica.

Majestica had a spare shield and by building a martial law unit, we wouldn't need an elvis for happiness, thereby allowing the popped unit to also be supported. That would allow time to support all units until extra cities could be built or another martial law unit could be returned home.

at least thats what i read from our Minister of War's initial suggestions

Your interpretation may be correct. What I thought to have been an assurance of a "none" unit may well have been in error. Memory can play some strange tricks. My apologies to the esteemed Minister of War Hydey for my remark and my assurance to him that I had considered the rest of his advice to be excellent and greatly appreciated anyway!

I neversaid that, I said the horse was closer to Majestica and as such would not cause us to lose a shield for support (unless you supported the settler from majestica , which I never supported)

First, you didn't actually say that. Second, I've already apologized for my misunderstanding of your statement about no support problems.

Let it go.
