hmmm, debauchery

Won my first game of RoN tonight - after what seemed like an epic struggle. Took me about 4 hours to finally get over the top of the Greeks, and this was at "easy" level. Built over 700 military units and killed nearly a 1000 Greek units. Just beat them before the Egyptians achieved game victory by economic means.

The game works fine on my 600 mhz PC.

The end game was really good - my frontal assault kept faltering outside the Greek capital and after about 3 hours of advancing inch by inch and then being thrown back across my border with my army almost completely destroyed and then advancing again with a new army and so on, I decided to send a force to open a second front behind their capital. I had taken the capital a couple of times but couldn't hold it for more than a couple of minutes with the ai pouring masses of fresh troops into the battle. I had to cut off this supply of fresh troops.

This hammer and anvil move proved decisive. My second force sliced through the Greek rear areas, making 2 amphibious landings, taking a couple of cities and causing havoc whilst my navy and air force interdicted reinforcements to either front.

In the end I had my 2 armies converging on Athens from North and South whilst my navy and air force paralysed the Greek forces and stopped them regrouping. All my forces joined up and were absolutely hosing the remaining Greek cities with fire. It looked quite spectacular with explosions going off and missiles being fired and buildings burning everywhere. My troops were running amok attacking units and buildings all over the map. I pretty much lost control of them

And then suddenly Greek resistance was broken and it was over. My borders sprung forward to cover almost all the Greek territory. I had 80% of the map and that's a win in this game.

I'll post a screen shot if I can work out how

Suggest we use Aussie rules as last posted and settings:

I can host now with Satellite broadband - it rocks but it needs testing with lots of players/units in late game stages.
