Hi, i realise this may be a biased forum but i was wondering should i buy this game?
Let me explain, i was very disappointed by MOO3, and i have seen some good reviews of GalCiv. BUT the lack of ship design and combat options REALLY puts me off.
I'd like to find out the opinions of others, is there anyone out there who had the same misgivings as me, but bought it anyway. Are the other aspects of the gameplay sufficient to forgive the lack of combat?
Cheers for any replies.

I never played MoO2 with the tactical combat option on, nor did I design my own ships. When I play SMAC, I let the computer design 99% of my units. I like the abstract nature of the combat model of Civ2.
So, for me, GalCiv is pretty much perfect.
IF your favorite part of the TBS god-game is the tactical combat and unit design, then no, don't buy GalCiv, you'll probably be disappointed. No, what you should do is download the demo, take it for a spin, and see if the lack of these two options is okay or not.
THEN, if the demo is to your liking, you should buy GalCiv. Tada!

A number of gold medals (for best Gameplay too) isn't a good answer for you? Well i suspect that GalCiv will be a best TBS of the year.

Cheers, didn't know there was a demo, D'oh, use your eyes next time sven.
Whilst Tactical combat and ship design weren't the ONLY things in moo2/smac i liked they were, how can i put this.....satisfying, they help immersion i think. And helped break up the other stuff, that can get overwhelming.
In the TBS games ive played, you spend all that time building up your power base and huge armies, implementing them on a personnal level is satisfying.
Anyway ill give the demo a go and tell ya what i think.
