	Pirates v Cowboys. Suffering from ads?

I ripped this off from another forum but I thought it needed our careful deliberation.

Pirates v Cowboys, who would win in a fight.

We can assume both parties are armed, in equal numbers, and present in a neutral and unbiased arena (such as a nightmare futuristic gameshow environment).

With that made clear, whaddya say?

Pirates can use guns AND swords AND cannons.

They can also deploy their parrots for air power advantage.

They can use their hook arms as unconventional weapons.

They can conceal firearms/use as a firearm their wooden peg legs.

Pirates can swing on ropes and are very acrobatic as shown in the movie "The Crimson Pirate".


On the other hand....the cowboys have both Clint Eastwood and Lee van Cleef.

The pirates are done for I'm afraid.

It depends where the fight is. On the open sea, John Wayne would be dog meat. In a desert town, Eastwood would make minsmeat out of any peg-legged dork.

Let's look at this objectively.

Who's the baddest of the bad, pirate-wise ?
Would have to be Captain Hook.
He can't even dust a crocodile.

The historical fact is that the native americans would wipe the floor with the pirates and the cowboys. The Spanish used to be terrified of the tribes in Florida who would kill strangers landing on their beach within a few minutes. As for the cowboys, they were no match for sneaky injuns with rapid fire bows and arrows.

In regards to Captain Hook, clearly he has the same amount of credibility and non wussyness as John Wayne. ie, they both suck.

Who is the piracy world Clint Eastwood equivalent? and more to the point why are the only examples given so far just actors, and why can we say Clint Eastwood and John Wayne, they've both been in many weasterns surely they didn't play the same character in every movie

Pirates are pretty sneaky too. They are much more likely to do you in through treachery. Got to be worth something.

Although the cowboys would all be standing around in the middle of the street at noon while the pirates would sneak into their house at 3 am and cut there throats. Or at least set up some cannons pointing straight down high street or the ok corral and wait till the cowboys show up at about noon.

Pirates are clearly a lot cooler than Cowboys so I'd have to go with Pirates. Not that cowboys aren't cool, they just don't seem as cool as pirates.

Maybe it's just because we've got a history of pirates but never had any cowboys here.

Anyway, Pirates are well armed boats loaded with bloodthirsty brutes who go around assaulting well armed convoys and cowboys just work with cows.

LOL 'the Man with No Name'? All his other characters were the Man with No Name, except with a name.

Same with Wayne.
No matter WHO the 'character' was, it was always really John 'I'm too special for the Marines' Wayne.
