Dry was right. The 4th panzer could have taken Stalingrad had it not been diverted. Also, it's a trick question in a way as it has two correct answers. Hoth also led the 4th panzer in an attempt to relieve the 6th army, encircled in Stalingrad. The force was too small and was stopped prior to Hitler diverting it from its mission, iirc 4 miles from the pocket. Hitler refused to allow the 6th to attempt to break out towards Hoth's 4th, or it might have worked. The 6th army perished in Stalingrad or in Stalin's work camps in the years following the war. Very few of the 6th army survived to ever see Germany again.
