I was browsing around Amazon.com a while back when I came accross a system called Purchase Circles which supplies statistical data on what is bought by people living in certain areas, working for certain government departments, etc.

It's quite interesting to compare the uniquely well selling books and records of each branch of the US military... Army personnel buy more than the usual amount of Elvis, The Rolling Stones, George Harrison... and Elton John (!), the Air Force is apparently full of lovers of crap Nu Metal, The Marines are disturbingly high on Fantasy literature, topped by Harry Potter and Atlas Shrugged while The Navy combines smoochy R&B with, er, Mac OSX for UNIX Geeks.

Of course, the absolute top seller lists are pretty similar but it's still quite fun.

They are an air base. I do think the Air part of the navy gets better funding than the regular navy. I found it strange most people preferred to eat at McDonald's than on base though. I hate McDonald's. Granted I do get sick of the poor quality beef and other meats on navy bases. But the other food is OK. Often on shore bases most people eat the fast food and don't go to the galley. But the shore bases do have better food. Because in the Clinton years they all shifted to civilian workers.

Yeah, Sicily is good, but I have noticed that pretty much all overseas galleys that are shore based, ie Souda, Rota, Sig and Bahrain, have the same system, with a load of local nationals doing the cleanup work.
