Evil Plan 4.0 XP Professional Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Well, in light of the latest developments with CFC regarding GCA's rather agressive positioning of a warrior over their iron, it is time for another Evil Plan...

Fate seems to be gravitating us towards CFC. First there are phychological reasons:

- CFC is our "rival" site, yet there are many people who post on both forums. Their large community is most akin to ours than with any other site. They also have arguably the most capabable players besides us. Despite our internet rivalry, there is a certain "kindred" about being the biggest boys on the block as well as respect about our potential abilities. Plus, neither of our members are "castaways" from the other, unlike CDG and GCA

- Both of us have been jerked around by another. CDG is obvously our winner in the team-we'd-most-likely-raze-their-capital category. GCA happens to be theirs. Our relations, though not incredibly joyfull, have been cordial and respectful.

Now, the geographical reasons:

- we are the only two teams which don't share a border on the continent. That basically makes it rather unliekly to be "border difficulties" between us. Thus, there is really no short or medium term threat between us.

So, what are our options?

There is only one this time:

Apolyton-CFC Alliance

now, the issue of course is against who? Obviously we wouldn't start it (well....) but we can try and "lure" them into certain courses of action, or respond favorably towards a sudden circumstance.

These circumstances are:

1) CDG-GCA alliance against CFC

This would be by far the most favorable scenario. Why? The bulk of their strenght will go against CFC while we swoop in and strike at CDG. Then again, it may be GCA providing the bulk of the troops with CDG guarding against us. Defensive wars are much easier to fight, and it would not be an easy one though. However, their city placement does not provide them with enough depth and I think we could breach their defenses with a well structured attack plan.

2) CDG-GCA alliance against us

Again, the possibility exists, but now we can try and lure CFC into aiding us at least by threatening GCA's rear. If that is so, then we can only resort to fighting CDG making it a much easier fight.

Recommendations:

There's really not many possibilites to think of. GCA has told us that they had difficulties with CFC in the past, and their placing a warrior on CFC's iron is a very aggressive move, at least in the manner that CFC has explained it.

If war comes between GCA and CFC it is imperative that we try and position ourselves in a way to maximize our benefits from such a conflict. In that case, I believe it will be allying with CFC and trying to whack CDG out of the picture.

A final possibility is having GCA and CDG go to war among themselves (ever a more remote possibility) in which case we have already expressed our intention to ally with GCA.

Tired of ads?

btw, the CFC alliance, would be secret *tsk, tsk*

In the meantime we can start feeding crap to CDG and GCA about CFC to try and lure them into attacking...

Got spare money?

All possible, indeed likely options in the future, especially when one civ atacks another (even if it is only when we attack CDG), the others will take their chances and ally up to get in on the action.

This is worth keeping in mind, but I think we may be getting ahead of ourselves a little. We don't need to approach CFC with an alliance as we are not threatened yet. They however might approach us, seeing as they have the Iron denied to them.

If CFC approached us for an alliance against GCA or both GCA and CDG, what could we do? CDG we could attack, but it's far too early for us - all we could do is stick to a defensive war right now. GCA is out of our way a little, and not possible to attack without them movng right through CDG's territory.

Bottom line: we are not prepared for offensive, opportunistic war, but we probably have enough for a defensive posture if we were attacked. We should not seek an alliance with anyone until we are preparing for our attack. If someone approaches us with an alliance offer, we should be ready to see their terms, but I hope we would not go into any war willingly in our current state.

Put an end to popups!

I agree with MWIA - although an alliance Poly+CFC sounds likely long-term, I do not think it is going to happen until out First War against CDG anyway.

Let's also bear in mind that CDG had a warrior posturing on OUR iron, too, and that was resolved relatively calmly. I think an agreement with CFC might be a very good idea; especially since we are worried about the timing of our attack (or at least should be) and GCA swooping in to gobble our new acquisitions with Elephants shortly thereafter.

I don't think we knew that GCA held a chokepoint between CFC and the rest of the world. Suddenly CDG's move to control the other chokepoint doesn't seem so dumb; if (significant IF) GCA and CDG are heavily in bed, controlling both chokepoints is an excellent prelude to a coordinated assault.

So here's an interesting hypothetical- what do we do if we see that large SoD... heading towards the chokepoint? True, not the best move for CDG, but they haven't been making a lot of 'best moves'... and this one wouldn't be utterly out of the question if they were trying to curry favor.

Another possible question- if CFC has a harbor, and we do too- what do you suppose we could get from them for our second iron source?

But of course! These plans are medium/long term. They are simply to consider possible courses of action should the need arise.
