	Nailbiter's finish Suffering from ads?

All-right, I'm a pretty steady nailbiter.

Any tips on how to stop? Any successes? I'm pretty much open to anything.

Sorry, but I'm a serious nailbiter too (I do this as an habit rather than out of nervosity - I generally tend to eat things coming from my body like nails, hair etc.) and I have never managed to change.

To me, the most important problem is to lose the habit, and to not taking it back. A way for this could be to develop a complex over my nails in order to force me not to eat them. Unfortunately, doing it just once without thinking can ruin weeks / months of efforts.

I've been advised to put some disgusting product on my nails in order for me not to eat them anymore. I didn't try because I've never been serious enough about the issue, but I was told it works pretty well.

Can't you put those fake one on top of the real one? I heard of others that it did helped them.

Didn't the Mel Gibson charcter in one of the Lethal Weapon films take up chewing doggy chews to stop smoking? You could try having something else to chew to stop you putting your fingernails near your mouth.

Though I have quit several times up to now, and I have to tell you it gets kinda weird, uncomfortable and clumsy after they grow back...

I've met one man with impeccably groomed, long nails. He worked as a cross-dressing model.

I'm not looking for this, but just cleaned up nails that are halfway decent.

I can never keep my nails clipped short enough to avoid biting them. If there's no nail left, then I start on the skin. Better not to clip them than to gnaw my fingers off.

I've gotten somewhat better -- I've found that chewing gum helps, as does snapping my fingers, or humming, or shaking my leg (when I'm sitting down, doesn't work when I'm walking), or taking my pen apart and putting it back together again...

Day one:
I have gotten through without any problem. I had a lot of work (physical) to do so I guess that helped.
Going to the seaside for weekend, so I guess that will help too.
I would report back on Monday but I doubt there is going to be a thread to reply to....

Obiwan: I dont know if you`re like a chain-nailbiter , but I can easily go for a week without nailbiting. As I said, I stopped as from yesterday and I'll keep you posted on the progress. You can do the same, and we'll insult each other if the other one starts again...

Sounds doable Daz.

Day 1:

Still polishing off the ice. Not to hard to keep from biting because I have been busy all day today.

We'll see what happens when things get slower, or I start to get nervous/bored.

(I can see this become the most boring thread in the history of Apolyton if we keep this up.)

Enjoy your weekend, I've got a big meeting all day tomorrow and then church on Sunday.

I'm hoping to visit my grandma in Victoria for the week.
