THE TALE OF THE YEARS 950 BC
We have many units exploring for huts and enemy cities, so I won’t mention those each turn…
1300 BC – Popped hut, 25G. Popped hut, Legion (Glorificus). Changed Enron production to Phalanx, rushed (13G).
1250 BC – Barb Horse appears and attacks Dominion and dies. Our Phalanx becomes Vet. Enron builds Phalanx, starts Barracks. Popped hut, 25G.
1200 BC – Popped hut, NONE Horse. Popped hut, Chariot (Glorificus). Popped hut, Chariot (Majestica). Popped hut (with Explorer), Barb Horse.
1150 BC – Barb Horse kills Explorer. Offer to trade knowledge with Japanese. They refuse and dismiss us. Try Greeks. They offer peace and I accept to maybe get better treatment. Offer to trade knowledge with Greeks, they refuse, too, but don’t dismiss us. I demand tribute, which is refused. Rush Pax Settler (50G) to avoid disorder (new citizen).
1100 BC – Americans start Hanging Gardens. Archer attacked by Greek Legion and is killed! Pax builds Settler. Popped hut, 50G.
1050 BC – Popped hut, 25G. Popped hut, CURRENCY! At least huts will give us tech sometimes…
1000 BC – Popped hut, Legion (Majestica). Popped hut, NONE Legion.
975 BC – Popped hut, LITERACY! Offer to trade knowledge with Japanese. They refuse again, so I demand tribute. They declare War!
950 BC – Japanese Settler appears next to Enron! Popped hut, REPUBLIC! Popped hut, Legion (Glorificus). Popped hut, CONSTRUCTION! Horse discovers Kyoto!
We are about to complete the Great Imperialis-Majestica Highway, which will vastly improve trade, troop and citizen movement, and begin to connect the Capital to the surrounding cities! ride:
Seemed like a good place to stop. Very frustrating session. Still no Polytheism discovery, and since we are 1st in approval, probably no one has Monarchy to trade to us anyway.

While a size 5 city for science sounds good, I think the cost of 2 settlers is too high a price to pay. If we can grow a city with normal growth (filling the food box) to size 5, then I say go for it, but I don't think this is a good use of settlers. Perhaps they could irrigate if this would help the city to grow faster (depending on the city that is, water seems to be a premium on this map!) As I stated on another thread, I am confident that we will very soon have monarchy, and at that point, we will be much better off. Much of the strategy posted is with the attempt to get to Monarchy, I prefer to think of strategy of once we get there (very soon I think) and once we get to Monarchy, we are going to want to use those settlers to found new cities.
Sparrowhawk once again offers his opinion, feel free to take it for what it's worth (less then a warrior, more then a caravan in this game)

The Foriegn Ministry requests that a diplomat be constructed soon for deployment in Greece where he can start an embassy. Of course, we need to find a Greek city first, but it will take some time for the dip to get there first, so I reccomend begining now
