Referrals Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

So there are these things called referrals in everybody's profile. Now, back in high school (I love being able to say that) you got a referral when you did something bad. But it doesn't appear that anyone on this board has any referrals, when I know for a fact that a good many people have done bad things, at least by the standards of the mods.

So what are referrals here? Are they used? How do you get one? That sorta thing. Inquiring minds want to know... Well I do anyway.

Referrals are people who register here through you.

I don't know how it exactly works here though with registering referrals.

I didn't know we had a system for referrals?

Some sites do. Usually they just qualify you for things like custom stuff or just are "Mine is longer" contests. I'm glad we don't use them.

You give a special registration URL with your userID in the address, and then that marks a referral down for you.

Tired of ads?

I personally think referrals are trash. As I said, they just give you a "Mine is longer" dispute, and we've already got enough of those on Poly.

I thought they were implemented and then revoked shortly thereafter. I am not sure how they are supposed to work anyway, I have gotten 2 other people to post on this site, but no referrals. Alas.

Apparently referrals are a good thing though.
