	Divide the contiguous US into five independent countries Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

If the United States had to be divided into five independent countries, how would you go about partioning it?

Here's a couple for starters.

1. California
2. Texas

Or you could go for the "Greater California" option which would include Oregon and Washington.

yes! i have supported this idea for a long time. california as its own state would be better for california i reckon rather than being part of the US.

Of course adding in washington and oregon would be good too.

5. Midwestern alliance.

Christian States of America-"Bible Belt" and Utah (ala SMAC)

New Europe-New England states going all the way to Minnesota

West America-California, Oregon, Washington State, Idaho, Arizona.

Midwest America-Montana, Wyoming, Dakota (North and South become one state), Nebraska, Iowa.

Texas Republic-Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma.

Hawaii would become part of the UK, become an independent kingdom again, or be part of Japan.

Alaska would become it's own country.

3) Great California (California + Oregon + Washington + Hawaii + Alaska)
4) Federation of the Rockies (including the SouthWest - except Cali, of course)
5) Midwestern States of America (Plains regions + Great Lakes region)

2. The Central Directorate: The Old Northwest, Missouri, and Kansas, Tennessee, kentukcy and notrthern Georgia (Atlanta Metro)

3. The Western Directorate: West Coast, Arizona, Nevada.

4. Greater Plains: The Great Plains states down to Oklahoma, NM.

5. The New South: the leftovers.

Strangely enough, I had that same idea today.

The only good states are California, New York, and Hawaii. I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt to Washington, Oregon, and all of the tiny ones in New England, but the rest of them are filled to the brim with loonies.

1. NE: The maritime states, plus NY, NJ, Penn, Maryland, Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana (they didn't want to join, but was bashed into submission). And all those tiny states in that general area.

2. West Coast: California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Hawaii.

3. SE: those states east of Mississippi and south of the NE states.

4. South: Kansas, Missouri, and all those south of them.

5. Great Plains: the rest

2. Northern California would go with Oregon and Washington.

3. Texas stays by itself.

Oregon and Washington DO NOT belong in a nation with California. A better nation would be Oregon, Washington and Idaho, with the extreme northern California. Western Canada could be included. Nobody here wants anything to do with central and southern California's endless problems. Northern California has wanted out for a long time.

I heard that the government of California had a study of where to find the water to continue growth. The solution? Pipe the Columbia river down to SoCal. Government of Oregon said no. The rest of us made sure our powder was dry.
