Say I have a group of three different units. While executing an Attack-Move will the different units attack the enemy units they are strongest against, or will the units attack anything indiscriminately?
Thanks,
A

Well if they always attacked thier counter the game would loose some replay value IMHO. Micro managment is a skill some are better then others and I think BHG wants evryone to look at all aspects of this awesome game. Also is give the game more of the feel from a general's perspective controlling the battle tactics and such.

According to the strategy guide (and I don't have it in front of me), all things being equal, units will try to attack those they counter best. They will also 'spread the wealth' and not focus on one specific unit...that is, they will try to damage many before killing one.
I know the second part is true anyway. If you watch your cities and forts fire on the enemy, they'll spread their shots out and try and wound everybody first.

They will attack the first contact first. Counter or not.
Once the first contact is dead, they will choose their best target.
My question will be. If under attack, will they attack the unit attacking it instead of chosing the best targets?
