My Kamerads and Comrades:
Time to get into uniform! DV2 is finally here! After much beta-messing, My WW2 thing is now done!

Giving you a chance to try various strategies as the Axis, and a chance to thwart them faster as the Allies!

You now have TWO scn files.
A regular one, and one with European names for some cities. Enjoy!
Run whatever one takes your fancy.

Y'all know what to do - make a folder, make a sounds folder in it.
Load it, play it, gimme some feedback!

That how a proper WW2 scenario should be like.

That is why the microprose WW2 scenario remains the best of its kind. Although having no new units or techs the f.e Axis player has the option of invading england or not, of breaking the peace with Russia or whatever.

Flexibility of options truly make a scenario civ-like.

IIRC i had proposed something similar for your Dict II scenario(What if scenarios-invasion of Gibraltar and assistance of the Italian fleet in operation sea lion, Capture of Egypt etc..).

BTW i take it this scenario will begin around early 1930s?

And what of diplomacy? flexibility of options means that negotiations will be allowed, but that also means that Brits could storm Moscow with Panther tanks.

A pity the CIV2 engine is limited, but it is still a good basis!

I wish I have more tech and unit slots to play with, and bigger event files!

I think the ToT version of Dictator III will begin soon!

The scenario has a Jun 1940 start.
The diplomacy for SP will be off, to prevent the UK demanding those Panthers.

But in an PBEM, thing can be changed...

Concerning the following improvements:

Russia – Politbureau (actually, I believe it's spelled "politburo")

Russia – Gulag

Now, the politburo isn't going to be the Courthouse improvement and the Gulag the Police Station, right? Because, this effectively makes these two useless if the Russian government under Stalin is going to be a dictatorship. Under war command, though, the politburo might have some use (assuming there is corruption under war command) but perhaps it could be better applied as an all-around courthouse-style building?

I have some last minute txt files to change!
But it is looking rather good, when I played today!
The balance is working well.

A quick question for all:
If I want to change the empire/leader name of a civ from the rules.txt,
should I change the city.txt values too?

I am making use of the split empire thing to break the USSR if Moscow is lost...
For the first time, the AI-controlled 3rd Reich captured it in Dec 1943 during my last game.
The faction split and the mongols were created.
I want to make them the anti-stalin 'Mencheviks' or'Democrats'...or something.

This would involve renaming the Sioux and Mongols in rules.txt, how do I do this?

Curt this looks pretty interesting but Im wondering why no trade units? Its a good way to force a Battle of the Atlantic (The USA trying to get trade to Britian and Russia and vice versa) by simulating Lend Lease.

Trade units make technological advancement so much easier. In Curt's prior games, I've had jet fighters in 1940 :P

I can say that I have made many tests with the tech paradigm,
and I will say that the level of tech research is quite good.

And you wont get jets by 1940. (even though the scenario starts in that year... )
You might get them by 1943, still early enough to make a real impact!

The challenge of DV2 is to pick the most useful weapon for your situation and research it's components, till you get it.

I would love to have more tech-slots to simulate more aspects, but you use what you get in CIV2.

Trade units are a pest.
The AI will build a trillion useless trade trucks for no reason.
This is about strategic war, trade is handled via events.
Wouldn't you rather have the nice I-16 Polikarpov that has taken the place of the trade truck?

Getting those troop carriers to and from Europe/USA will be tough, I can assure you!

Ok... just took a tiny little look at it yet.
First: Why does the Soviet Union declare war on me if I attack Belgrad? Wasnt it just the trigger for the operation Barbarossa in the "normal" dictator version or is there a historical background?
Second... ... the voice of the Waffen SS Commandant sounds a little strange... (you know - I am German) perhaps if you would like, I could send you an original selfmade sound. You just would have to tell me if you have a special wish for the sound. The thing is that the Waffen SS were stormtroopers. But the Commandant says: "unter Beschuss - wir brauchen Hilfe!" Thats like: "we are under (?) fire (someone shoots at you ) - we need help. But thats perhaps kind of to defending imho. What about "Sturmtruppen Angriff!" or something else. Perhaps you know some original phrases - I dont know...

Ok, thats my first little remark!
oh... +++ Operation Seelöwe!

edit: Berlin has a higher production then Cologne... not that much, but a little
