... and that is:
PATCHES FOR EUROPEAN VERSIONS!
'nuff said.
--a very disgruntled Fritti who vows never to buy an Atari game anymore and instead resort to piracy because then I actually can get some fixes for bugs in a product I have bought!

maybe you miss the point, we are trying to fight the power here, not the one who's responsible... or is this just me? |
hi ,
you cant fight "the power" , in the end they decide , .....
it was infogrames great idea to have local languages versions , it costed more money and created more problems , thats the fact , .....
now atari has moved in and what do we see , a gold edition and a new XP , ..... lets hope they have learned from the mistakes , .....
have a nice day

I just wanted to recall that Atari and Infogrames are just the same. Infogrames changed its name because they had (very very) bad financial results, and that they stinked in the Stock Exchange.
And you can always fight the power. Beyond the opportunity you ever own of opening your mouth and telling your mind on an internet forum like Apolyton's, which has become a true lobby (for the opinions of the members (sufficiently numerous) are taken into account by developpers), you always keep the possibility not to buy the products. If a forum like Apolyton adviced to boycott a product, because, for example, publishers didn't give a damn about players' mind, it would certainly hurt...
To my mind, if Apolyton's members together had no power, new newbies wouldn't suscribe all the time.

To clarify: I did buy Civ3, I bought PTW about the day I could get it here, and I don't want to pirate games. It's just that I feel that the pirates have more support - at least the cracker groups can get the patches to run!
Oh and that gets me thinking about an interesting question: if I bought the Euro version, is it wrong for me to pirate the US version? I know that it's probably illegal according to the letter of the law, but I'm talking about the spirit here -- a 'what if it wasnt wrong to do that' question if you will... I'm interested as to what you all feel.
Let it also be known that I will first stop buying Atari products to vote with my wallet, before I'm pirating anything, it's just that I'm very disappointed in them right now and had to vent my frustrations somewhere.

And I should have read the rest of the forum instead of just posting here -- here's to hoping the next wait won't be as long as this one.
