I think Blair is a more beneficial PM than Major or Thatcher. I don't dislike the Tories - I ****ing hate them.
However, it's his pals that make me nervous - people like Alaistair Campbell and Lord Falconer. The latter is often mentioned as being head of this or that - but isn't he an unelected bureaucrat? And now in charge of the UK Constitution?
Scary.

Not letting (or doing his best to stop) brits from choosing the people who will rule us? it might not be comapable to Hitler or Mugabe but it's certainly an insult to democracy.
And Yes, Cruddy gives another good example of people with immense amounts of power in our government who wasnt elected.

Maybe, but New Labour didn't invent this. Senior Civil Servent and Armed Forces chaps have been in office for hundreds of years.
So this "removing true democracy" argument won't wash.
We never had it in the first place. Just another illusion.
