The best thing I have heard done with dogs was the German ban on private persons owning any dogs that can be "dangerous", that is, any big dogs. Made me very happy back then. I can only hope that many countries will follow the example and impose bans on bigger dogs used other than in police/customs/similar. It could even be made a rule, say, in the EU...

I am a great dog lover... right now I have a 20 pound cocker spaniel, and a BIG(never weighed him, he is enormeous) bull mastif. The 20 pound dog is MUCH more aggresive then the bull mastif, who is VERY calm and friendly.

They will get my mastif when they pry him from my cold, dead hands

Well, any bull mastifs definitely fall under the banned category there. Which I am very happy to. Moreover, I want to punishments for breaking of this to be severe, so that people wouldn't want to break the rule.

Well, this probably comes mostly from the extreme circumstances over here, where dogs are free to walk in parks and such, AND they do not, in most cases (like 95%) have a tie or that cage on mug. Yes, there's a law that dogs must be equipped with both, and there's even an official ban on having walks with dogs in public parks, but it's not enforced in any way, so they're free. And I really would hate to be a father of a five-years old boy to whom some big dog comes and sees what he is, given that the dog is size of that child...

Why don't you enforce the laws you already have instead of making new ones to counter the problems caused by lack of enforcement?
