	How do we vote in this poll? Tired of ads?

There's a poll at 1BC, The UN, that concerns penalties for teams that go over the time limit.

There's a thead here that contains the poll question.

There's also the thread here that contains dicussion pertaining to the poll.

Please do post in the poll thread at 1BC, it is up to Beta, as our representative to vote on our behalf. One vote per team. I think we are going to say it takes a 2/3 majority to get the rule changed. You can, however, post in the discussion thread if you like.

Anyways, please vote here on how you think we should ask Beta to vote for us. Thanks.

This is a very clever idea, and I'm tempted to vote yes on it simply because of the interesting game mechanics and politics (and trade options!) it would introduce, however, we would probably not be the beneficiaries of this rule, and it would most likely take effect during a war, when things seem to slow down the most.

I'd vote "no" ... but I could be convinced otherwise.

Well, it's almost unanimously "no" here, but I don't recall anyone from ANY otehr team saying they opposed it, so I doubt there will be the two more needed to defeat it .

Kentonio from CDG stated his dislike for the idea. Surprise, surprise.

CFC is not likely to like it either as they are short on time, same goes for the Germans and French.

Firaxis probably will skip voting, which is the same as no the way they are being counted. Requires 6 yes to pass. That makes our no, and any others, quite decisive.

It would be interesting to post our stats to the UN as well.

Of course, we haven't gotten more than 30 votes in any poll despite having 80 people! :P

However, it doesn't seem like there was very much time for discussion at the UN. There is 6 pages in the timer thread, but that is only over the course of about 3 days. I really wish we could of heard what Firaxis thinks about the whole deal.

I would be interested to see what peoples' objections to this were. It is clear from reading the main discussion thread on this that there were some very real worries about how long the game would take with constant delays, and I thought this idea (proposed by Kentonio, IIRC) was by far the best. There are plenty of second chances there, including a top up once the poll ended and at the end of each era, the first of which is approaching us.

I vote yes to this as it seemed like the best way to avoid delays and still be fair, with my ONLY issue being the non-consultation with Firaxis.

Interesting that with our vote the proposal will have failed, but that one of the no votes (GCA) was because it was too lenient!!

It failed. It needed a 2/3 rds majority to pass. With 8 teams, 3 "NO"s caused it to fail. There had only been 4 votes cast at the time of failure.
