we should do this, flat out.

we should open up Ellis Island, and set up others around the borders. Illegals should be detained and sent home, or shot, i dot care.

if you went to ellis island with A COLD, they held you or sent you back, now we have AIDS and SARS here, for christs sake, not to mention terrorism.

As a good story that goes with this you should know how Italian fishermen fish in Croatian part of adriatic. They do it on purpose, stealing large quantities of fish and when intercepted by police they always try to run towards Italy. Sometimes, the police shoot them. One guy was killed that way by Slovenian police I think..

They protest against that, and look what they want to do to albanians.

I say we sink an Italian fishing boat for every refugee/emigree boat they sink

The Italians have the right idea. If immigrants break the law to enter a country then they need to be gunned down, whether it's with a cannon from a ship or a AK47 on the beach.

We should start to become a bit more like our good friends in Spain and Italy here in the UK.

By the same token, I suggest we order cops to shoot on sight on kids who steal apples. They know it is illegal, so they deserve to be shot down

Austrian navy gave Italians a few kickings in the Adriatic too. Not that anyone needs to sink Italians ships, "Affondatore" (Unsinkable) was sunk by a storm ... ah, the good old days of the Monarchy ..

if they strive for a better life there are legal ways to enter the country. if they do all their paperwork and such, they are usually allowed in. i'd like to see stricter regulations, but thats my opinion. illegal immigrants are ruing the country and if they dont have the decency to respect our borders and our laws, isee no reason ot to shoot them.

there is quite a difference in seriousness here. illegal aliens can bring diseases and the like into a country, not to mention the economic effects. stealing apples is nothign compared to that. the kids stealing apples should be diciplined, but not shot. save the bullets for the raft riders.

I don't know for the US, but it is wrong in Europe. Except if you come from the right countries (and Albania isn't a "right" country in the eyes of Italy), it is extremely difficult to immigrate in a European country.

My point was precisely to show that there was a huge difference in seriousness between illegal immigration (or any other small or medium offense) and death penalty. I can understand that people want to execute child molesters. In comparison illegal immigration is infinitely less grave. I can't fathom that people would want to execute illegal immigrants.

This was mentioned in a BBC website story. The interesting bit in their version was a claim that most Italians are rather ambivalent about immigration, illegal or otherwise. The reason is that Italy has an ageing and diminishing population and they know that someday soon they will need more people to pay for the social care systems and all the rest of it.

Croatian island of Vis, or Issa if you will. Battle was won ofcourse because of valour of Croatian sailors and crewmen and traditional incompetence of the Italians. Ok, Austrians played a minor part too
