	server issues? Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

for the past few days, i've had horrid trouble just trying to access the site.

half the time, i get closed connections, and the other half of the time, i'm told that registered users get priority over everyone else.

an example of the problem is in the off-topic forum, where i started a thread, except the first post isn't there...

any news on this?

Maybe it is a heavy-load feature like avatars not being shown sometimes. For what its worth, the civ group icons show up fine for me.

Yes, that's one thing. The number of new members is unbelievable. I didn't grab my automated e-mail for a week just a bit ago, and there were over 2500 waiting for me. 90% were new member notifications, and the others were the normal panag thread complaints.

Actually Ming doesn't let them pile up like I do. So I usually do mass deletes.....unless it's from Mark or Dan.

I've been noticing the slow-down problem as well. Apolyton comes up as the #2 site when you search for "Rise of Nations" on Yahoo. Perhaps 'Poly is getting too big for it's britches.

3rd link on Google (second site, since the first two links are pages on the microsoft site). We're even above the BigHugeGames homepage.

I remember when Counterglow was (utterly inexplicably) the number one site on Google for the search "CM4 demo" (meaning Championship Manager 4 Demo). What was much less hard to understand is why none of the hundreds of people who followed that link and saw the forums decided to stick around.

Hm, now there are only 95 members and 79 guests but avatars are disabled already.
