New Internet - What ISP? Support Apolyton

As I have previously said I am moving later on today so it's bye bye Free Internet too .
Since I cant live without the net i think I'll be looking for High speed Internet when i reconnect. As far as I'm aware my options at the new place arent limited , so does anyone know any good high speed providers at a low price??
cheers
Matt

I use BellSouth. It is one of the AT&T spinoff companies. Rarely have any problems and when I do the tech support is good. (DSL Obviously)

I have Cox Cable, which is nice (though when they install cable lines in some nearby area I sometimes lose internet for a few hours).

It sounds odd but AOL is actually one of the better ISP's in the UK. Better than they are in the US. Particularly for ADSL, especially if you want the hardware free (their current offer if you upgrade a dial up account).

The only real downside I have found is that you have to ignore all the junk they provide and just stick to using it as a basic service.

Worst customer service in the world. Seriously. If you ever need them to fix anything you'll be waiting forever.

Also, their service frequently cuts out. The one we have at home often stops working for a few hours each week. It cuts out at random and comes back on at random.

I've never tried any other ISP, so I don't know if the others are any better, but my experiences with NTL have only been bad.

I would change the service if I was the one paying for it.

They are consistently low to bottom of the speed, connection, availability statistics. They are one of the worst.

Tired of ads?

I'm on NTL broadband. Customer service is still a bit crap but is improving.

It's quick and cheap, best thing about it is the cheap phone etc. Cable modem is £25 for 600K. Phoneline and basic cable come in at £6 a month. Plus I get this international call thing so I can call NZ/US etc for 5p a min at all times.

BT phoneline + ADSL is something like £12.50 + £25

ClaraNet, Pipex and Demon are consistently rated fastest and best ISPs. Pipex were recently top in Internet magazine's readers ISP satisfaction poll. Claranet were top in the magazine's own test. Demon are always up there.

I'd go for any of those three for ADSL, if you want cheap phonelines/tv as well as the high speed internet get NTL broadband.

Oh and service outages on NTL broadband are regional. South East where I am is pretty good.

You want to try Kingston Communications who shaft you for ADSL (hence I have not got it yet)...£30 a month, £65 connection, they charge a staggering £85 for a cable modem (I would buy my own) and the bad thing is, because of where I live, I have no choice...it is the one thing that needs to be sorted out in this city is the internet service and how it is completely monopolised
