I think maybe it's time to fix the system. Maybe the police should stop pulling over black motorists . That would solve the rioting problem.

What Jesse Jackson said really bothers me

I don't think he's a racists, but I do believe the things he says are for political/personal gain and do not help race relations at all.

Just take a look at what he said recently. It seems to me he expects white cops not to pull over black motorists.

There may or may not be oppression, but it doesn't matter. If the people think they are oppressed, there may be a race war. It's times like these, I hate being white, and am actually afraid of being white. Yes I suppose it is racist to be afraid. But sometimes I don't think the U.S. is going to make it. I feel like the fabric of society is going to break down.

Yes I know black people are afraid of cops. So it serves me right. I do think the cops are too heavy handed with regards to black people. But should I be to blame for what the cops do?

I am guilty of being white.

Most of the cops in that town are black. most of the people in that town are black. I don't think he'd be living in that town if he was a racist.

Guilty by association, my friend. They see the "white man" as the oppressor and are fighting against him. But from what I hear this incident was the spark that set the powder keg off. If it wasn't this, it would have been something else.

i think the asian community will be in such an occurance, split as it always is.

the "assimilated" folk with the whites, the rest with the minorities.

i think i'll move in such an event, back to asia, because even though i'm assimilated/americanized, i have no interest in a racewar.

I also think this death was merely the spark that set the powder keg off. It's a stupid spark, I agree on that, but I wonder what the real reasons of the riots are. The death of a fleeing motorist definitely is not the "real reason"

Apparently, there was some longstanding tension between some black motorcycle gangs and the cops.

The place is a bit of a hellhole- like Detroit but without the glitz. But rioting makes a bad situation much worse. You can drive through some neighborhoods in Detroit from the 67 riots that still haven't been rebuilt.

Not afraid, but very distrustful. And who can blame them? In both Detroit and Benton Harbor, there is literally a physical street or border that separates affluent white neighborhoods from black ones - You can walk across a street and go from a DMZ to Bel Air.

Trust me, this isn't accidental, and police tactics play into keeping it that way to this day.

I have to agree that the information is incomplete in this case and the riot was not possibly generated from one felony pursuit. "Many of the city's residents believe they are unfairly targeted by police from the more prosperous white communities that surround them, said Charlie Ammeson, a local attorney" We open up the can of worms that contain racial profiling practices employed in a ghetto enviroment and go fishing for trouble eh, other examples of this existed in the Five Points region of New York during the early 20th through WW2 with the Irish,Italian ,Jewish and Chinese peoples.people typically unassimilated. It is a symptom of human territorial rights in a restrictive state.

Not in this case, but it was said here that this was just the spark to set off the powder keg, and that there were many cases of confrontation between police and black bikers. The majority of the policemen in the town are black, and so is the Chief of the Police Department.

shoot the rioters.

blacks commit crimes. so do whites. it's not our fault the majority of the crimes are committed by minorities.

now the rioters are messing up infastructure, economy, etc.

well, at least most of them probably don't have jobs.

Why are police forces superceding jurisdictions are the locals failing to enforce the law themselves or are they exporting crime to nieghboring villages.
