Got spare money?

I'd be "socialist" if by "moderate left" you mean accessing to a socialist economy in a democratic fashion. But since "socialist" here seems to mean "social democrat", I had no choice but to go for "marxism", since it is the only far left option not being either anarchic or authoritarian.
(I don't believe in Marx's utopia though)

Political ideologies are so limiting. I thought with all these free thinkers here on Apolyton the very idea of being labeled would be beneath you. So far only Dissident has allowed himself the freedom of thought that some claim they have.

I owe nothing to any one party or ideology. I'm honest enough to know that my priorites and opinion will change about things as my situation changes. I have a feeling that some people like to be associated with certain ideologies because they think it's cool. That's a bit sad.

Note..If it's to get chicks, then I guess I can see the point.

Or perhaps we're intelligent enough to realise that any self-assigned label we choose to give ourselves doesn't limit us in any way.

I'm not going to vote for a moderate-left political party because "well, that's the label I've given myself, and I told the people on ACS that's what I am, so I'd better stick to it".

I'll vote for them because their views and priorities broadly correspond to my own. As soon as my views and priorities (or theirs) change then I'll vote for someone else. It's a simple system.

Exactly what is fascist ideology? I'm just curious because I have never heard people agree on what it is. I'm just curious what you see as fascist.

Hmmm... I don't like to label myself. I prefer to judge the ideas for individual merits of each, positioning myself in the left or right as the case may be.

I guess it kinds make me centrist, but than again, I'm not sttrugling for balance, and I'd drift for a "side" withour problems the day I started to completely agree with the position of one.

But, admitedly, I usually have a few more common grounds with leftists.

Regards .

Spraybar:

A moderate capitalist economic system influenced by Keynesian economics and corporatism (because corporations are the life-blood of the country and the means by which the masses have jobs and goods, what is good for local corporations is good for the workers to an extent [ie- tariffs help corporations and provide american jobs, etc.]); a very conservative social model (self-explanatory); an emphasis on militancy and strength rather than pacifism; and an emphasis on the advancement of man.

This is still pretty vague though as fascism does have many variations (and many who do fulfill this criteria do not call themselves fascist). aside from Mussolini and the classic fascists, i would consider the populist movement in america in the late 19th century with William Jennings Byran to be fascistic, the movement of the Louisiana governor, Kingfisher or whatever his name was, in the 30's and 40's to be fascistic... the Nation of Islam and recent re-incarnations of the Black Panthers to be fascistic, etc. as all these movements had much in common, specifically the elevation of the lower middle class, an emphasis on militancy, extreme social conservatism (the NoI and black panthers are perfect examples of this), and a favouring of capitalism and business so long as it benefits the common man by providing him with jobs... the nazis and the NoI also share a near identical belief in the divinity of man and that man must strive to reach that divinity.

Fascism in the sense that it occurred in Germany was a worship of the state at the expense of the individuals rights for the purposes of a National military industrial complex bent on global domination.Holy **** this sounds familiar!

Fascism How fun My History final exam was on Fascism mostly (also on Zionism. Ah, yes, I'm repeating myself )

Fascism (=National Socialism as it was first called by some French guy who invented it) is based on two main principles: The Inequality of Men and the Supremacy of the state.

Basically, a man is nothing by himself; only when he is a part of a State he is worth anything. That is because the State has a life of its own - it's not just a "corporation" of human beings, it's an animated entity by its own right, and it's the Ultimate Thing, if you know what I mean. Therefore every subject of the State must wholly surrender himself or herself to the interest of the state. (This is the oppression part btw)
Inequality of Men - most people are like sheep - to be herded by the Talented Few who should be the leaders. Most of all the Leader (Duce, Fuhrer, whatever) who is the embodiment of the State and therefore infallible and should be worshipped.

This is more or less the basics of it - Can't be arsed to repeat the 10 pages or so about Italian and German fascism I wrote last thursday...

Also, Fascism views history as the endless struggle between states and therefore is militarist. Mussolinni said, "Only in war do the powers of Man transcend and reach their ultimate" (or something like that)

Oh, and we shouldn't forget that the State being Ultimate in Fascism implies socialist economy, more or less. Labour disputes must be settled without strikes, and to the satisfaction of the interest of the STATE, not employers or employed. The Corporations in Italian fascism aren't what we use the word for today, but actually mean labour unions and the parallel unions for capitalists/employers.
This is basically socialism without the humanist part. Socialism because satisfied subjects can benefit the state more, not because they have a "right" for something.
