That'd be a question for Brad, but I'm sure he can't say much officially.

I guess I'm just stunned at how badly Macsoft has fumbled the football on this one. They had to know that the moment it became known to Mac game players that they weren't certain about bringing any of the Civ III XPs over to the Mac that word would damage sales of Civ III Mac itself. It's a vicious circle. They should just commit to C3C (hopefully with PtW nations), advertise that fact blatantly, and go from there.

Maybe include both Conquests and PTW in one easy to install package? That, I like. I just have my doubts they'll do it.

Interesting question? PTW is included in the C3C release. So, everyone who bought PTW will get it again if they buy C3C. Now, I assume that means if there is a Mac port of C3C, then PTW also will be included.

Now the question is, why in the world would they include PTW in the C3C release in the first place? Not that I'm complaining, but still an odd thing.

I did that a while to play Civ2: Test of Time and SMAC/SMAX. Eventually I went and got myself SMAC/SMAX for Mac because the slowdown of first having to emulate Windows and then having to emulate running the games was too much a slow-down.

i am thinking of buying a powerbook, but one of my conditions is that c3c is playable on it (pathetic, isn't it ).

but as i read from this thread it sounds highly unlikely and there's no more than rumors around.

when civ3 was released: did they say from beginning on, that it would come out on mac or was it more like "of, by the way, we made a build for mac too"?


hey, if enough people consider buying a mac for the same stupid reasons as me, apple may even finance c3c

Don't buy the power book for Conquests, because there is no definite whether we're getting it; depends on how well the PC version sells.

uhm, win32 uses CICS and mac has RISC processors. there's no chance to solve this with a dual boot, sorry

now wait, you're mixing something up. i know there is dual boot, my computers have that too, but...

mac OS uses a completely different processor architecture than windows 32bit systems. so you can't combine these two.

of course, you can put linux or bsd on either platform, but there isn't any ptw/c3c for linux.

so in the end i can't have macOS && c3c on the same computer.

one example ; an E-mac , push the power button , screen opens , small program lets you chose , win98SE or OS X , ..... if you want to play C3C , you choose win98 , that simple , at least in the office , the same with the G towers , dont ask how since the systemsop is away on holidays but its that simple , ......

now that would really be interesting!

are you sure it isn't an emulation of win98se? if so, it's probably too slow to play and definatly isn't dual boot.
if not, then i'd be interested in how he did that

well since no turn takes longer then 2 min ( average is one min ) it does seem to be a complete full install , and since the comp(s) need about 4 min after the choice it does seems that they load the OS completely after the choice is been made , ....

oh and its a she

panag posted the complete way of doing it last year , but it seems to be gone , ....

however there are some others who have a dual install , only to play CIV , .....

This is either a myth or just isn't available in the states. I've posted my evaluation of the only way to emulate windows: Virtual PC, and the lack of its ability to run CivIII on older machines.

This also smells of tech-talk so maybe post a link about it here and start a thread in off-topic.

years ago there was a small problem with games , in particular the hospital has MAC's and the games ( most of them ) where not for that platform , ...... so after some speeches , talk and loads of research we found some one in the office , ...... right under our nose , that particular person turn out to own a phd or two ( or is it three ) from caltech and a couple other univ's , ....

dont ask any details but its just a simple as to choose from at start up , .... ( sorry no screenshots are allowed true the system due to security )

as for thread into the OT , well there wa&s a thread ones , with the complete explantion and downloads etc , ..... however it got lost , .....

and why should it go into the OT , especially when the main reason is to play games , in particular CIV , .....
