Now that it has been made clear that Civ3: Gold is not going to include PtW or Conquests, will Conquests be made available for the Mac.
Also what about us Mac user who wish to play with the PtW civs?
Worst comes to worse, someone would be able to back port the ptW civs (along with the graphics, sounds and animations) as a MOD like the Apolyton Extrapack specially for the Mac.
So it would make sense for Atari to make those civs available in the expansion pack for the Mac.
PtW would be the multiplayer version of the game, for all intents and purposes isn't essential for most Mac civ3 players anyway.

Honestly, I haven't been following developments with EU2, so I can't offer any insights on the game, other than the fact that it has an interesting premise. Don't know if I like the play limitations to Europe, though. Or can you play China in EU2?
Gatekeeper |
Yep, sure can. And, you can play minor provinces, including Native Americans, Native Africans, etc. If it exisated between 1419 - 1820, you can play it. There are also historical events which create nations. Also, once you've played x # of years, you can switch to another country = pretty cool.
One more thing, If an area of earth was unkown to Europe during the game's time span, then it is terra incognita throughout the game.

If Macsoft, et al., is smart, they'll turn it from a rumor into a fact. And, of course, then launch a good marketing blitz upon the Macintosh world ...

hi ,
true , but it would be really nice to hear the facts from lets say macsoft , a small offical statement would be great , .....
and they would win a lot with doing so , the marketing and benefits would be unheard off in the mac world , ......
so , anyone from Macsoft
have a nice day

If they're not porting things because of "lackluster" sales, part of the damn reason might be because of forums like this, where folks read that Civ III for the Mac is only a "part" game, in the sense that if you get it, don't expect any of the PC ports for PtW, C3C and so on.
|
You're partly correct. Its been hinted at that sales were low, but not for Mac Civ3. It appears sales have been low for PTW, which is why MacSoft is non-committal on a PTW port. Now, if C3C moves off the shelves quickly and en mass, which I have a feeling it will, we may see it ported to the Mac.
Also, over at CFC, a high number of mac players have been taking part in the GOTM which features the PTW civs and improvements. If I was MacSoft, I would think a port of PTW could capitalize on the interest.
I guess the thing that confuses me is, shouldn't an expansion be icing on the cake? I mean, how much new code is necessary?
