Stop spitting out nonsense... I was scrolling on the map and hit it accidentally. Every GUI designer should understand that this kind of action by user requires verification.

Try reloading from the autosave of a previous turn. If you have one, that is .

As I said, I had a 200+ unit battle campaign underway and every single turn takes a considerable amount of time. It is easy to say that one should save his game during such lengthy turn (actually I did, but I still lost a lots of it), but software should verify every action that might result in data loss (as it verifies exit, for instance).

i have a lot of problems such as this. like when you accidently hit "automate" for a worker and, especially in the late game, he goes zooming off to the other side of your civ to a square that isn't even in a city radius. I'm much angrier at when you accidently send a unit one square off when invading enemy territory, things like that. curiously, i've never accidently hit the end turn button

I'd say it should only require confirmation, if EOT is triggered and there are still units with move points left. Of course, if I were a software developer (duh, I am), I would not listen to flame crap like this. Is there a word for "polite" in Estonian?

I usually make a unit, usually a ship, my "last" unit by hitting "w" (wait) whenever it comes up for orders. Eventually it will be the final unit asking for orders. This is when I do a last minute check on my economy, diplomacy, upgrades, unit placements, etc. So each turn this unit acts as my warning system that the turn is about to end.

This unit is usually a ship because I tend to make my ships "wait" for all other units to move toward them for loading anyway.

Works for me!

Yeah I do that too. I have an old unit, usually one that produced a "leader" (for sentimental reasons) just sitting unfortified in my capital city. When his turn comes I push "wait" until he keeps coming up.

Kristjan, I have done the same thing quite a few times in the last 1-1/2 years. Click on a unit in a city, press return to look inside and -- oh, scrraap, the turn is over!

In single player, it adds another dimension of user fallibility. Try not to do it, but it's something you will probably recover from.

asking for confirmation would be rather annoying in the early stages of the game, where you might have not a single unit moving every few turns or for a few in a row. although having a simple option in the preferences for this would definitely not hurt. as for your anger, try and control it, but i definitely know how you feel.

Put an end to popups!

I have had several incidents where I declare war on a civ, wake up an ICBM, nuke them, but I didn't have any other units to be moved and it ended the turn. So my offensive is delayed and it was supposed to be lightning quick. The loss of the first turn screwed me over.

John and Jaybee:

There is a preference option to prevent that from happening, but this is not what Kristjan is talking about, he accidentally hit the orange button next to the unit dialouge box which automatically ends your turn regardless of your units left. Kristjan is correct their should be a confirmation notice before ending your turn especially if you have units that haven't moved.

This is a correct remark.

I had the same problem several times.

Playing on huge empires and on huge maps with a moderate computer, an accidental EOT is not funny.

nym

A nym (pronounced NIHM and a shortened form of "pseudonym,") is a name invented by or provided for an Internet user in order to conceal the user's real identity and, in some cases, to expressly create a new and separate Internet identity. Among reasons to have and use a "nym" are these:
1. You want to comment or take part in controversial political or other discussions on the Internet without revealing your opinions to colleagues, friends, or employers
2. You want to send spam (unrequested bulk e-mail) without anyone being able to trace it to you
3. You are a self-declared cracker that wants to talk about it without being identified
4. You simply feel strongly about protecting your privacy on the Internet
5. You are incapable of making relevant coments on any subject including your online nick.
