Free skipped techs? Increase the size of your Attachments

I noticed an odd phenomenon in a multiplayer IP game: the game repeatedly gave me techs I had skipped. I was playing the Hive, and so skipped Social Psych, Progenitor Psych, and as much of the Centauri tree past Cent Eco as I could, as well as other techs. I got all the useful techs which required them by trading or stealing. However, around the time of Orbital Spaceflight, I started getting those earlier techs for free, without notice. Has anyone else seen this phenomenon?

If you had the Planetary Datalinks special project that could explain it but other than that I have no idea--

I deliberately avoided the PDL for that reason, though it does tell you when it grants you techs. I'm certain I didn't research or steal the techs, too.

Sounds like an altered alphax.txt or Hive.txt file has conferred the sharetech or techshare ability on your faction.

Or perhaps you captured the PDL when you weren't paying attention?

The only other thing I can think of is that your game file became corrupted in a fashion similar to the alteration of the .txt files I mentioned above.

The PDL is safely out of reach. I have a vassal, Santi, but she doesn't have Social Psych, at the least, so I can't explain how I got that. I'm checking on the hive.txt of the host of the MP game.
