Aidun drags MrMitchell, Rothaerill, UnOrthOdOx and Kloreep off their chairs through the doorway, to the street. He gets himself four buchets of cold water and poors each over the sleepy heads of the carousers. "Wake up guys, you must have slept our your debauch by now. Wake up, there is work to do. Get yourself ready. I spoke with ZargonX last evening and he told me that we needed to have a big dinner to duscuss what we plan to do in the next turns. We also have to learn each other better, so that we know what we can expect from eachj other: how experienced are you with Civ3/PTW, are you a strategist, a warmonger, or a builder and what is your taste.
If you need to bath and have none in your own home or if you haven't got any home at all, you can rent a room here. Ten bronze coins per night.

For myself: the day after Civ3 was in the Dutch shops, I bought it, because I was a great Civ 2 fan and had just played it out on deighty by the strategy of guerrilla warfare.
Civ3 proved to me a bit more difficult and I have played for several months (with gaps form time to time) on the level of chieftain and warlord. Then I got disinterested and restarted playing AOE. When I restarted playing Civ 3 I started on level regent. After PTW came out I played a lot and reched Monarch. I'm now too experienced in monarch. I win every game on monarch, but I loose everyone on emperror, so I still have to find a strategy for that level.
Because I wanted more challenge, I have started playing DyP some time ago and I like it very well.
I like to build in aciv game and I prefer having a good economy: having libraries, marketplaces, universities and barracks in each city. When I think that my nation is ready for it I can start endless wars and finaly win by dominition, but until that time I try to avoid war as much as possible. during a war I NEVER agree with giving up a city which I build and in which I did investments.
I never use the luxury slider, but rather keep people quiet by harsh military oppression. Sometimes I use creative ways to gain victory, like giving up half of my empire and letting the enemy conquer it so he has less troops to defend each city, so I can easily conquer it back, including his own cities. These are but AI strategies which I developped myself. I never visit the Strategy Forums, so I'm not a strategist in that way. I know nothing of calculations and tables like some people do, I play like a random ruler with a good feeling for politics, but I which I can't use in an AI game.
In RL I'm a student. I'm 19 years old and I study Political Science at the University of Leiden. I live in a suburb of the city of The Hague. In my study I learn a lot about politics, domestic politics, political organization of a state and international politics. This means I have some ideas of diplomacy that fit well to the RL international politics. Because this game has very, very much resemplance with the RL politics, I think that these theories are useful for this game as well.
Apart form this I am a great RPG and fantasy fan. On my sixteenth I started to write a book, but after some time I became too busy with my school and later my study, so I write little on it. Unfortunately for those wo are interested, I write in dutch, because my English is good enough to properly communicate, but not for writing. Until someone likes to translate, you would have know dutch, which you probably don't do.
Roth, if you like we could start a text based RPG over internet via a forum.
this is all I can tell about myself.

* UnOrthOdOx shifts uncomfortably in his chair.
Im surrounded by Peacenicks?!
Bring me anyother ale, apparantly Ill be needing it. I prefer early, aggressive action. Plop out 3-5 cities and crank out the archers, warriors if I feel like Ill have Iron. After at most 10 archers, I go seeking trouble, and more importantly horses. I prefer Horses to Swords just for the upgrade path and on a standard map typically have 40-80 ready for upgrades to knights depending on casualties.
This has also made me a fan of the knight UU's, though I have been attempting to break myself of that recently.
Whatever land mass I start on, I MUST own it all. One exception was the MZO Boot Camp where I decided to role-play Ghandi...I just let good ole Otto do the warmongering for me and agressively settled in the holes he made...only went to war once that whole game, aparantly the vikings couldn't resist attacking a nation that had, oh, 13 warriors TOTAL when berserks were coming online...
That was an experience of a game. I never owned Iron, Rubber, or horses and only had 3 lux, only one with extra to trade yet was not only trading all lux and resources in, but managed a +500 income with 100% science and was pumping out the wonders. Too bad I royally screwed up the culture win...live and learn.
RL, Im 27, 2 sons: 4 and 1, married now 8 years (yes, right out of high school). Working for Boeing currently on a US Airforce contract. Put my wife through College, she is now a resperatory therapist and works at a local hospital.

Don't fret, UnO, we're not all peaceniks around here! Though, honestly, I fall somewhere in the middle. I love having really well put together cities, but at the same time I love the chance for a good, rompin' stompin' war. I think my MZO Bootcamp game probably showed that style, and while it is fun for me to play, it's not really the fastest way of winning the game.
More recently, I've been trying out new methods of warmongering earlier in the game, to great successes so far. But there's always room for peace in my heart
In the world of the real, I'm 24, working for a public television station in Maryland. I do internet content development for them, which is a fancy word for editing and site maintainance. I'm a writer on the side, which I hope to soon move to being a successful writer full-time

My style of play varies from day to day... so when I argue for a Barracks, I'll probably end up arguing against it before it gets built...
Mainly I believe that forward scouting and a strong economy trumps a rush. Workers, tons of them, will win games (and in MP, Diplomacy). Defense should be fluid and mostly made of attacking units. Determine what is expendible, what is important, and use what is expendible as a lure and for time to respond.
I think CivIII is heavily weighted towards the defender (assuming an intelligent defender), so an offensive needs to be unexpected and UnOrthOdOx. And when things are really important... bombardment... bombardment... bombardment.
As for China specifically, I think we should get the Great Wall about 20 turns before Chivalry, use our GA to build Horses and cash, and then go find some food! (Iron permitting of course)
