-------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been trying all day to fix this error and have finally found out what's wrong. I put in a new hard drive so now I had C D and E. E was the old drive and C and D were new partitions on the new drive. The original install of Civ3PTW was on the now E drive. Using Drive Image 2002, imaged the new C drive from the E drive (E was the original C drive before the upgrade). Everything at this point is working well. I now wanted to place all my games on the new D partition which I did. I then changed all the paths to reflect the D location versus the old C path. This is where everything when to hell. All the games worked fine execpt Civ3PTW. I kept getting the Font error. Tried all the tricks listed here plus uninstalling and reinstalling both Civ3 and Civ3PTW, still got the font error. I even reinstalled Windows XP Pro and still with the stupid Font error. Before I had reformated the old C drive, just to be safe, I made a complete backup of it. As a last resort I used the Backup program in XP and restored the Civ3 folder to the D partition. Still got the Font error. At this point I was just going to give up, but as this is one of my wife's favorite games, I did one one more restore of the original files but this time I told the program to put the files back to the original location, which was on the C drive. Lo and behold SUCCESS. The font error vanished. The game worked fine after restoring it to the C drive. Then I had the bright idea of just copying the Civ3 folder from C to D. I then tried runing the program from the D drive and the game worked fine. So now I have two complete copies of the game, one on C and one on D. Both copies work fine. I delete the game that's on the C drive and the FONT ERROR COMES BACK when I try to run the game from the D drive. I again restored the game back to C and the Font error once again vanishes. I can also delete the game from the D drive and run it from C with no problems. So to recap, as long as I have the original files restored to C everything works fine from either C or D, but lose the game folder on the C drive and the Font error appears. I have no idea of why this is happening, but I'm hoping that this might help narrow the possibilities of why this is happening. And if anyone else benifits from this even better.

I found a way around this problem, I shut down a bunch of extra programs running in the background (sorry forget which ones, just shut down as many as i could to speed things up and it worked for this as well...lol)
ps sorry about not replying sooner i forgot all about this forum, have not played the game much lately, too buggy
