	Trading for Mathematics ... from who? Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

Background: We have a signed agreement with CDG to trade them Mapmaking for Math + Philosophy. This agreement is void if they do not come up with the tech by a set deadline.

After making this agreement we were still unsure if CDG would follow through, and we did not want to slow down our path to Republic, so we proposed a trade to CFC of Mapmaking + WM for Horseback Riding + Math + WM. Originally it was explained to them that we might get Math from CDG first but in time the offer was repeated many times to them without any conditions. No tech trade deal was ever signed, though. There is no formal trade agreement with CFC, mostly an informal spoken offer and acceptance on their part.

Update: CFC has Math & Horseback Riding. CDG has offered us Math + Philosophy THIS TURN, and we replied with MM and accepted.

Issue: We cannot get Math from CFC. If we trade with them now, it will be for HBR only. Should we proceed with a very generous trade or give them the bad news that they were too late?


GIVE THEM IT ANYWAY:
We could give it anyhow and keep our word with them. We would, however, first explain to them that we already received Math from CDG, they were too late in their offer to us, and it's now impossible to trade. We would then tell them that we have decided to honor our promise anyhow, and will accept the uneven trade with them as a show of our good faith and friendship.

LET THEM DOWN EASY:
We explain to them that it's impossible to trade as CDG gave us math already, but we'd like to try to work out something else, and ask them to offer something to substitute for Math ... if nothing can be found we'd accept a token amount of gold, perhaps 40g.

Or the option being discussed in chat - that of trying to get them to agree on a discount for some later tech (Currency perhaps) for MM for HBR right now.

I should note that we ended up in chat with CFC tonight to discuss the pending WM swap and this tech issue came up. We made a quick decision and decided to offer them MM for HBR with the understanding that they'd give us an unbalanced deal in the future.

FortyJ agreed to make it up to us with the next deal. He told us they're working on Construction next. We're working now on ideas for an uneven trade for Construction.

Octavian X has informally agreed to trade us Construction for Code of Laws + Philosophy. This would basicaly take advantage of the "goodwill" we gave them in this most recent deal.

I'm in favor of writing this up before CDG decides to get wise and offer Philo to CFC. Any thoughts or comments?

This is great. But if the War continues between GCA and CFC, I doubt CFC will be spending much $ on research.

It doesn't. We will just be getting Construction much later, ie 40 turns, assuming that CFC is still around after the War.

Construction is a compulsory Tech to get to Middle age. But we are still many Techs away, so I am not too concerned.
