Scurvy = chronic shortage of vitamin C.

It can kill - although rare nowadays for it to get that far.

Very common in age of sail.

Cheap vitamins are a poor substitute for fruit and vegies but most likely they will prevent scurvy.

Beer gets you lotsa B vitimins, but not much else. You'll still get scurvy. At the very least, have a kiwi fruit every day. They're one of the most amazingly nutricious fruits out there. More vitamin C than an orange and more potassium than a banana. It's a wonder fruit.

Pekka, you need fruits and veggies. I'd say scrap the beer. It's more expensive and it won't sit in your stomach as long as the noodles and veggies and fruit will.

You could always get into home brewing. One of my roommates did that a few times in college and the beer was actually pretty good and really cheap. Though one time he put to much priming sugar in the bottles and a few of them "popped" while we were gone on spring break. It was a smelly mess since we found it a week later.

well the plan is that i will skim money until i find a job or until im in medical peril. which should be 3-4 months tops.

lets just say ive had experience with the tuna smell.

che, actually I have to choose between noodles and beer. So I choose them noodles as I might get hungry at some point. I can't afford anything else, and I can't help that fact. I get 260 euros per month. From that I must pay little 30-40 euros to my rent. That leaves me with 220-230 euros per month. From that I must pay everything. Bills, food, EVERYTHING. And we are hella expensive country. That's all I'm going to get, and I have to live with it. It sucks, but hey.. that's the way it's going to be.

And now it's time to be racist to those god damn refugees who gets more money, and people who dont' want to get a job gets more. We are the lowest income people in our country and it sucks butts. That's why people get huge loans. It's a good way to keep students in trap, so they must start working in their own country and not flee to foreign countries open markets, where they pay way more than here.. It's a nice trick, and I'm starting to get angry again. What the heck, I'll just beat up my fellow students that they give me their money.

The hurricane is a bar/resteraunt near 6th ave, a few blocks east of Pikes Place. All the punks go there. Great mashed potatoes, big servings.

I can always get myself 200 euros per month, minimum in our software engineering is 5 years, that gives me what.. 12k euros plus small interest to that, and when I get out of school, interest is like raving lesbian getting bigger and bigger. That's why people here are like 40 when they finish paying student loans.

IN college, free food is imperitive. Every sinlge group org at some point offers free food. Hey, you might have to sit through some useless talk or smeinar (or perhaps you might like it), bhut you also get food. Be sure to get there early though, becuase college students are perpetually hungry.

What are your kitchen facilities like? If you have access to a goood kitchen, you can buy some cheap staples and live of them. You can supplement with Ramen, which is dirt poor.

And you won;t face significant vitamin deficiencies most ikely, as almost evrything is fortified today. Oh, and do have a social life: it means people you can get food from.

I like Seattle too. I've been there maybe a dozen times and my best friend lives there. The mountains and forests a beautiful and are located so close to the city.

Still it rains to much and it seems like there are more bible thumpers there then in the bible belt.

Do grains, pasta and vegetables. Buy frozen poultry, go with lower quality beef and make stews.
Cook once or twice a week enough food for a few days so you wont end up getting lazy and going out to buy other stuff.
Check the frozen aisles, they have good deals on some frozen stuff, plus you can complement with potatoes.

and that's exactly why many students has to work at the same time, making it harder to actually study, and many of them keep a year off just to work so they can live like human. And it's a circle of evilness, and that's why people study more like 8 years instead of 4 or 5. And then they wonder why students won't graduate in time, and that's a cold fact.
Is it equal? Rich kids are the ones who get to study, and the ones with not money must work anyway and torture theirselves, missing lectures etc because they have to work, because they like to eat every once in a while.
So.. why don't they just raise the money a little, so no one is forced to work, people graduate in time and it is more cheaper at the end...

To me, it's a challenge. It's like Extreme Survivors. I like challenges. So it's not all that bad. I'm even more winner when I graduate in time without loan! WoohoO!

I think they're attracted to all the lost souls. There a zillion homeless kids there, so it's an attractive market for these people. At least they get the kids off the street and some food in their bellies.

'Nother reason to have friends. You can pool your resources and buy food that can be turned into soups and stews and such. Plus, you need people to look out for you when you don't show up at school and come looking for you to make sure you aren't sick or drunk or something. Hell, you need friends just to stay sane.

seattle on its sunny warm days is top notch. but yes, there is a lot of rain up here. and the drivers suck to boot.
