Sava: 1941 != 2003.

Thurmond repudiated his racist past. You'll note his record also includes voting to renew the Voting Rights Act in 1982.

While I don't like his conservative politics, I separate that from the man, whom I believe in the end of his life acted with honor and dignity and fulfilled his duties to his constituents ably (Until of course he was rendered more or less a living puppet).

I'll ask you again to take the Thurmond-bashing elsewhere. I didn't intend for this to be about that.

oh please Boris... in the book, one of his closest aides reported in 2000 that "Strom hasn't changed one bit." He just took his racism and buried it. The man was a smart politician. The only thing he should be praised for is his service in WW2. But since you obviously love Strom, for some strange reason, I'm not going to post anything else to the contrary. I think its disgraceful you praise the man. Enough said.

Hey, I'm not a Xian, I don't forgive evil men. Thurmond never saw the light and was a force for evil up until he became a member of the walking dead. I'll feel exactly the same way when Helms shuffles off this mortal coil, just as I'm sure there will be plenty of people saying hallelujas when Castro dies.

force for evil? now you know i would never condone his racism in the past but come on... thats a bit harsh. he may have been very misguided and his misguidance may have cause a lot of problems but he was still a man and probably an overall good guy and deserves some respect in his death.

you shouldn't insult the dead, even if just because by being dead, he will never be able to defend himself.

Yeah, but wasn't the person who shot Wallace mentally unbalanced? When push came to shove, Wallace backed down. He gave a good show to snow his backers, but he really didn't care one way or another. Maddock was a die-hard segregationist. Closed his resteraunt rather than serve Black people, but once in office, he started appointing Black people to many positions in the state government.

Thurmond was an evil man. If he only talked the talk, like these other two, I wouldn't care. But he caused people lives to be ended. In my book, he's a murderer. Just cuz he did it with a gavel instead of a knife doesn't make him a better man.

The boots situation is on hold. Right now they're renewing my contract month to month. Plus, I have to invest a lot of money in Bunnygrrl's mouth. She needs quite a bit of dental work, poor girl. She's in so much pain right now it's making her dizzy. The dentist didn't see any cavities, so they have to do a more extensive examination next week. She's gonna be sucking down pain killers for a while.
