E-mail warning system buggy? pt 2 Suffering from ads?

I know I complain about this often (in fact, it's the one thing I do seem to complain about around here) but for me, it's important.

Currently, I can't seem to even be able to check the my threads link, however I recently came in to 'poly via the front page and was alerted that I had two new PMs.

Had I not come in the front way (I usually enter via an e-mail announcement) I'd have not noticed them for a while. I understand that there have been some issues, especially with the lack of avatars the servers must really be working hard.

Is there anything we users can do to get the server up and running faster? And would this fix the lack of e-mail update messages?

While of course nothing is life-threatening, it's just nice to know that when, in the PBEM and/or DG games I'm in, something new happens I get warned of it and don't have to go around to all of my threads.

It seems to be working for me now, and I often experience intermittent outages for this feature as well.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

And sometimes you need to stop discounting that it's on my end or my fault... I'd like a real solution instead.

As an update, I've checked the my threads now and it seems that it has yet to properly alert me.

I think FF (and pretty much anyone else) can distinguish ISP or email server problems from the notification feature being flaky.
